I bet those eye shields are at least OD12 and effective for the whole spectrum of IR to UV! Just kidding folks! Those devices are truly works of art and excellent engineering! I want to be a bigger help to Igor, and I hope many of you do too! In laser building, like any endeavor, there are a lot more kindergartners and first graders than there are Da Vinci's & Michelangelo's!
Igor, new inf. suggests that a laser can be FDA compliant with just a Beam on LED and an interlock, just look at the Wicked Lasers new lines! This could mean that you too could soon be making fully FDA compliant lasers if we get your new models to include the 2 simple devices, and and get the FDA approvals, (I would be happy to help with this). So the goofy delay and key lock as well as an aperture shutter it would seem are not required any longer! -Glenn
