Ebay BR pens

So I guess that answers my question about duty/rest cycle and added heatsinking-did you happen to note how long the batts. lasted and which ones did you use??thanks for the info,,HZ

Sorry I didn't. I put it on a tripod in the living room focused on a Uranium marble then forgot about it.

Came back about 90 min later and batteries were dead so it wasn't intentional. But I've been using ray-o-vac alkalines, because I bought a bulk pack of 100 last year.

Don't know if that helps, YMMV.

I have a third BR on order plus a couple greens from the same place. Ordered last week so a couple weeks or more until I get.

Got my ebay laser today nicely built little device, put new batteries in it and was shocked to see how bright it was. I drove to my friend house and shot into his LPM speced out at 45MW very impressed with its power as well as construction. I am ordering another one to dissasemble to see if its just overpowered or if it has a pot and able to be turned up a bit more will post findings.

Man... you got a good deal on that one... 45 Mega Watts of 405nm...:eg:

BTW... I have 5 of them now and they all read between 30 and 35mW...
I've taken 1 apart (what a PITA).. It seems to have a nice Brass heatsink.

@ bp968...
any laser that outputs over 5mW should be treated with care and
safety in mind (Laser Safety Goggles)..
The 405nm Lasers only have one wavelength of output..

@ rockz
a 50mW green laser without an IR filter will NOT have 500mW of
IR....
The IR component is part of the 50mW and is only a small percentage
of the 50mW (aprox. 15%-30%)
What makes the IR dangerous is the fact that you can't see it.

A 50mw green laser might have 500mw of IR.

Rockz you misinterpreted what I said in your other thread. A green laser might use a 500mW IR diode to pump the crystal to make the color. That does not mean 500mW is coming out of the crystal. Also mW is mW. If a laser is putting out 200mW, then its output is 200mW no matter if some IR is in there or not. As Jerry said, IR can be dangerous at any level because your eyes cant see the IR, so it can blind you.

I oredered one of those just before the new year... I guess it should arrive imminently. The first thing i'll do is to measure its output on my LPM, then i'll most probably carefully disassemble it, I wanna see what kind of driver will be in it. I'll also try to see what kind of diode is used in it (If I recall, the PHRs have a very tiny semacode etched near the pins)...

i'll probably use the entire module in one of my many "ongoing" projects. I guess at that price, these modules only have an acrylic lens, not a glass one, heh? That Star Trek phaser project is very tempting because I know of a local hobby shop that has several types of phasers including the classic TOS version...

I'll use the emptied host for one of the numerous greenie modules I have in my laser drawer (I have way too many!) ;) Or maybe that red SF-AW210 laser diode that I got from Hightechdealz a long time ago... mmh. decisions, decisions... :D

Maybe I'll order a few more and sacrifice one to the gods of pot modding... but from what I've read, this looks like a great find for us laser geeks! Anyway, i'll add my review to this thread as soon as it arrives... Oh the anticipation LOL!

sorry forbthe double post

As far as these br pens they are a good deal

Hey Slipstream...

By hitting the [EDIT] button on your double post.... then hitting
the [Go Advanced] button... then going to the top of that page
you can easily Delete the double post....;)

@ Robert.... you'll really like the Laser for the price..
Don't know how they can make profit..

Jerry on the one you dissasembled Does it have a pot I'm very happy with the one I bought and dont want to take it apart till the new one arrives I'll see if the new one is the same output. only thing I dont like with this laser is every now and then you have to twist the back section of the host to get better battery contact or it will be very dim. I think I have a fix for that I'm gonna try later tonight. I dont know if the one I have at 45mW is a fluke or what but I hope the net one is atleast closegot my goggles today for red blue and green laser use so now I can play with them a bit the red one I built is crazy bright scares the hell outa me lol. also Jerry did you get your plane

Hey Doom...

Yes there is a pot on the Boost Driver PCB... I haven't touched the pot
yet...:undecided:

No I haven't received it yet... the plane should be here any day now.
They shipped it on Jan 18 and as of today it's in Mississauga Ont...

Doom

reach into the head assembly and carefully pull on the spring to stretch it a little. I had same issue on one of them. That should help.

I also put a couple wraps of paper on the inside of the battery compartment so they wouldn't flop around as much. Now they are nice and tight and the beam never dims!

Ice thanx for the tips I used a small spring in the bottom of the battery compartment so far so good

Jerry what plane did you get they all fly nice I have 1 of each that they sell but the ones I make fly alot nicer.
I ended up ordering another green and 2 blues my friend liked the green one so I bought him one. BTW Jerry love the avitar you ride? I just traded in my sportster for a soft tail.

Doom

Hey Doom...

I got the Japanese Zero with the transmitter.. Are these rudder and motor
only control ??

Thanks...yeah I ride... have a lowered Softail myself.. (I hate the snow)
I've been wishing for the Spring since October...
