DX Laser - Problem -.-

Hey, I am new to the laser community, i have read a lot of the threads and now i bought a 30 mW green laser from DX to start.

The problem is, that the laser is not focused well, there are like three points, when i focus the wall 5 meters away.
Is there any possibility to focus the laser to only one pin? I tried a little bit, but i wasnt able to open up the front part of the laser, and i dont want to destroy it.

PS: sorry for my bad english, i am from austria, europe.

This is NOT a focus problem. Either there is something wrong with the placement of the lens, there is some foreign matter interfering with the beam, or the crystal set is not aligned properly. If cleaning the lens doesn't help, it should be returned to the seller.

pretty weird, when i activate the laser, it starts with a single bright beam. then, within 2 or 3 seconds, it slowly starts to split into 3 beams.
everytime i disenage it and then engage it again, its one single spot again.

maybe its the best to return it..

return it if you can. it sounds like its mode-hopping.

Return it and then go buy something from either novalasers or glowlasers. They're lasers are more reliable and they have good customer service.

yeah, i visited the novalaser page, but their prices are very high..
maybe i'm going to buy a laser from jayrob

well, when i start the laser and hold it straight into the air, the point gets a small pin again, and this works until i disengage it, the sometimes it splits again. so i hold it into the air before targetting something, allright.

You can't go wrong with jayrob.

The "changing" dot you describe, says that something is broken and/or loose in the module. Return it

yes, but hongkong is far away, and i was so damn happy when the postman brought the package today.. this is my first laser, and i'm playing arount with it all the time (of course i am careful with it )

 Those lasers are as cheap as they come, in price and in build.  ;D

I personally wouldn't bother the return hastle for a $20 laser, I'd rather take it apart and use that $20 to learn how the internals work.  Just be careful if you do this because the IR diode can damage your eyes if you don't use the correct eye protection, or the camera/screen method.  What is it, a 200mW inferred laser in there?  But it is extremely dangerous because although our eyes don't pick up the 808nm wavelength hardly at all (a faint red light can be visible by the naked eye that looks about 1/100 the power of a 5mW red) our eyes don't react to the light as they typically do (pupils shrink, squint, or look away) and remain fully dilated subject for the invisible photons to be absorbed into your retina!     But heck, you might be able to figure out how to fix it.  Looks like the crystal set is loose or misaligned.  

Otherwise, I'd say get a Nova laser, if you could afford to spend a little more, the x-75 is a great laser (mine peaks at 94mW).  Plus their shipping is quick, customer service is top-notch.

One thing you could try is fresh, high-quality batteries, not those cheapies that come with the laser. I've found that many lasers mode-hop when their power sources are unstable.

yes this works for me sometimes high quality batteries

but what it boils down to is you get what you pay for :'(
