WOW this video on your order page is crazy!! It sounds like a freakin jet is taking off haha :eg:

Yep they really do blow.:p

Do you reckon those little turbines would be too noisy for a lab build? :D

They are not as loud when you are not driving them at full and if they are inside your enclosure they should not be any louder than they are in the projector they come out of.

Hi dtr al the goodies arrived supper well in Belgium the packing was fantastic
Even the envelope was plastic wrapped in case of a planecrash the package would have arrived flooting to my direction
Thank you for the good care to your cutumors
Kindly regards
Luc:thanks:

Awesome glad you like it.

Re: 445 1.5W-2w Diodes $40 Shipped US

Hey DTR I just had a very strange happening. I put one of the 445nm diodes into a build.
Everything worked fine as I was testing it out and then there was a strange 'morphing' in the beam point on the wall, almost as if the lens had melted.

It is an Aixiz glass lens, I checked anyways and its fine. I decided to check the diode with my magnifying loop and strange enough.....there is a whole now in the diode window! It seems to have melted a perfect little dot right in the center.
Now I could "TRY" to take a photo, but doubt i'll be able to catch it....

I may try to de-can the diode....never done it before though. If anyone may have info on this happening to them and perhaps how to decan these somehow.

EDIT: I was able to get an okay photo of the damage. Also the diode was run pretty conservatively at 980mA so I wasn't really pushing it.

My bet would be a small piece of dust or debris in the module. When it landed on the window it absorbed almost all the energy melting the window in that spot. Are you using Teflon to keep your lens secure? That is a common culprit.:(

Your best option at this point is to decan the diode. Some have said they have had success with using tweezers to break and remove the glass but I think that would only get little shards of glass into the can. If it survives the process I would suggest pretty much never taking the lens out to keep dust and debris off the dye.:undecided:

I have a unit that has been chugging along very nicely for months with a decanned diode but I have also had others that died quickly. Probably depends if any smoke particles or anything else has already landed on your dye.:tinfoil:

That's a good theory with the debris. I'm always very careful with the diodes and have a cheap lens for protection. I never use Teflon tape, I found that the heat from the laser would degrade the tape and contaminate the inside. But from what I saw and how fast it happened with the "melting" look, that is most likely what happened

I have seen de-canning tools before but not sure if it would be worth the investment.
I'll let you know how it goes, first I have to remove it from the Aixiz(I have a removal tool;))
Thanks for your help. I have a pretty good track record(no 445's lost) so I guess it's my time to at least have some troubles.:D

EDIT:
SO after trying to decan two dead 5.6mm diodes I had, I destroyed both. The first I cracked the glass and had a bit in there that no doubt destroyed the diode.
The second I got closer, I had to firmly grasp the diode with pliers and then with a razor hobby knife(exacto blade) I tried to 'carve' around the diode. I was able to get through parts of the can but making an exact cut around the diode by hand is not too easy. Finally I tried to take it off with pliers and smashed it a bit then tore it off. I think with a bit more patience I may be able to cut threw the can all around until it..'falls off'...that way not risking the...'crushing'....factor.

Are you offering any completed with host currently?

Re: 445 1.5W-2w Diodes $40 Shipped US

I have a few nice kits. PM sent.

Re: 445 1.5W-2w Diodes $40 Shipped US

?
From your store page:
1W 445nm Blue Laser Module W/Flexdrive ....
What would the least ~mw setting I could run at and maintain a visible beam ?

I could set it as low as 250mA giving around 150mW. It would depend what your definition of a visible beam is. In a dark room this would produce a visible beam.

Hey! Do you have any ones built up completely with hosts? If so, would you be able to split the item up and send it in different parcels? :s

My country is really strict on things. ( Singapore )

I have the 1W 445nm Blue Laser Module W/Flexdrive & Aixiz Glass Lens that you sent in hand, thank you.
What do I do with the white lead out of diode? +/- I understand this white one has me confused…
Power will come from an ac/dc trans at about 5.2v dc with the diode in a heat sink (not hand held)
?

Just hold up and don't do anything. If it has a white wire it does not have a flexdrive in it. Shoot me a PM with your email so I can check if I sent you the wrong part or if you mistakenly ordered just the module with leads. I am pretty good about keeping my orders straight but it is not impossible.

Don't hook that unit directly up to a power source as it will kill the diode as there would be no current regulation. PM incoming.;)

Re: 445 1.5W-2W Diodes $43 Shipped US

Hey DTR, looking at building a 1-1.2W 445, what ma should I set my flexdrive to? I'll be getting the diode from you :)

Thanks

1.1A-1.4A should get you in that range with an Aixiz three element glass lens which I have as well.

Got my 445 diode from DTR and put it to use this weekend.

Looks like an efficient diode to me. . . and I have had spikes over 2.3W with fresh batteries!:eg:
