Dragonlasers changed their 589s again.

Looks like it climbed over 100 bucks for the 50mw Spartan. It was $429 I believe. I noticed around a week ago. Still a good price though for 50mw because I've noticed everyone seems to be getting over 50 on the lpm

I could be wrong but my guess is that they get those lasers as 30mW from CNI and, since they are usually overspec, sell them as 50mW. That would explain the changes in rated power (some batches come overspec and are sold as 50mW, others come on spec and are sold as 30/20mW). Sometimes they don't bin them properly and send customers underspec lasers (like they sent me and a few others).

Anyways, just my speculative $0.02...

That would be my guess too. They finally got done binning all of their lasers after the recent PR fiasco with sub-standard lasers going out, and the website has changed to reflect that several times now. The first drop to 30 was damage control, now that they're done binning them, they've got a better grasp on what they have.

Most likely. Kinda sucks how sparse and far between yellow are. I mean, 589nm handheld's can still be found from a couple manufactures, but as far as I know only LaserGlow still offers 593.5nm handhelds. Their Rigel, is $599 which is a ridiculous price for <5mW of 593.5nm. They also offer a 593.5nm Vega-6 which peaks at ~6mW for $699.

Kinda crazy when you think of all other re-sellers prices being around $200 cheaper!

Yeah, the rarity of yellows is absurd. Hopefully someone will eventually develop a yellow diode. It has got to happen someday.

Definitely makes sense. I don't know why I just LOL when I saw that $0.02

That would be so nice! Cheaper, more powerful, and more stable. And maybe throw in a 473 diode while their at it.

I'm overjoyed that you've come round to the idea that laser glow overcharge by exhuberant amounts! :)

Dragonlaser gets it lasers from CNI rigt? I looked at the website of CNI but could not find an 589nm in the PGL-III-M (Spartan) housing. Does anybody know if they produce them only for dragonlasers? I think this would be kinda strange.
I just ordered a 589nm Spartan a few days ago. Hopefully it comes without any problems, im so excited.

I really hope 488nm diodes will drop in price.

Oh yeah I've seen how pricey those are. Who know what the future holds :D
