Dragon Lasers 589nm 50mw Handheld

Bowtieguy- glad it worked out well again for you. Did you happen to LPM yours yet to see if you were lucky a second time? What was it on that 1500mW 532nm labby you ended up getting? 3100mW? IIRC the highest one of this batch was around 115mW, just curious if you got it...

Mine takes IMR and ICR cells. Is your tail cap lead recessed a bit? My AW ICR has no button on th e positive end which would explain why yours doesnt take them. If the tail cap isn't the same. What other reason could there be? Does your ICR have a button?

these look awesome....can't wait to get mine and compare it with the larger 'C' model!

Hey, since i didn't hear back from you before i went to the PO I didn't drop your's in the mail yet. I will try to get by the PO before The weekend gets here but i am back on duty and usually dont get off until right at 5pm. I did get your message though and still plan to do as said.

No worries man. I'm not sweating over it. I really need to take care of my GB and get my HeNe supply fixed, but I do have some set aside for you. I'm divising it evenly between the two projects I have going, and I'll have the rest of the money out to you as soon as I get it. but naturally, no matter what, food and housing etc. come first above all else.

@Jmillerdoc, I didn't get to LPM it yet, maybe tonight.

@xirrious, both of the panasonic batteries I used were button tops; one was unprotected, and the other, a protected cell.
I also tried a samsung unprotected flattop, and obviously had no problems with that one.

I recorded a few measurements, and found that:

1) - The tailcap contact is recessed 8mm from the edge of the cap; this is approx. the same distance as where the threads stop.
2) - The battery tube is 65.5mm from the rear of the module to the rear end of the tube, so , a fully screwed on tailcap will give me 65-66mm length.

My button top panasonics are 66-66.5mm long, so in my case, a longer protected cell is going to be much harder to fit.
I may be able to get one in and only partially tighten the tailcap, but with the somewhat iffy threads, I think I'll stay away from those.

BTW - For a comparison to anybody elses unit, my module sits recessed back from the front face (with cap off) approx. 9mm to the retainer.

Here's a pic showing the module, tailcap, and the front cap with the white compound still on the threads.

I still can't get my front cap off lmao. I've tried everything that I have access to that won't damage the cap.

Sorry to hear that, mine came off without too much effort; it was tight, but came off without having to use any tools.
I'll bet when you finally get it off, you'll find a lot more of that compound on your threads than what I had on mine.
Did you get a B.E. for yours?

Edit: I wonder how many people missed this nearly microscopic (but important) battery orientation symbol on the battery tube, near the tailcap? :)

Nah, didn't get a BE since the divergence is so good and since the cap is stuck. I'm probably going to have to try chilling the body, gently warming the cap, and using special rubber grip strap wrenches (which I don't have). Rubber bands, cloth, leather, and elbow grease isn't working.

One of the greens had thread lock and white epoxy/silicone on it. I just heated it with a heat gun and grabbed it in a rubber pad like you'd use for opening a stuck lid on a bottle (for padding) and pair of pliers. Came off with no issue.

If anyone had held off on buying one of the Beam Expanders and wants one shipped fast to their door, I am wanting to sell mine.

It is in perfect condition and comes with adapters for both Aurora and Spartan model lasers. My asking price is 95 shipped. Add 4% pp fees or send as a gift. I am buying a new camera and need funds not spoken for by bills.

just got back into town and had a nice, well packed package awaiting me. now I have my first true exotic wavelength, thanks

in case anyone cares, I tried using one of those oil filter wrench/ jar opener rubber gripper things to get the cap of in case I want a BE, which I don't, and it came right off with ease. give one a try if yours gives you trouble. also good for oil changes

Just curious, were there any left overs?

Not at the moment. I have a deposit on one but I haven't been able to make contact with the individual for days now. Not sure what's up but if I can't make contact with him in the next few days I will refund his deposit and there is one other person who would be in front of you. If he didn't want it then it would be available. It's a long-shot but I will let you know something if things fall through with either of these other two people,
