dpss 405nm is it possible?

I was looking at my beam today and was thinking "wow, wouldn't it be great to be a whole lot thinner?" And dpss green came into my mind. Now, I understand the basic functionality of a dpss greenie, but could the same thing be applied for a 405nm output? I mean you would need different crystals for sure, but are they available and/or affordable? Didn't see any topic on this subject so basically I guess I'm wondering what is the main factor that would make this difficult to make rather then trying to find out what's needed since someone would have started this project by now.
 





I remember Laser_Ben had a DPSS 430nm laser.

I can't for sure recall if it was DPSS but I'm quite sure it was, go under his past threads on his account, it'll be there pretty recently.
 
One way to get "DPSS" 405nm is to directly double an 808nm diode. It's very possible, but building such a system isn't for the DIYer. To get a stable, usable beam via direct doubling requires complex pump-correcting optics and precision active temperature control at the very least. It's just easier to use a 405nm diode.
 
one of those knock off drop shippers(was freaklasers or laserpointerpen) claims to sell 405nm DPSS lasers in handheld and labby style, id always assumed the just didnt know what they were selling, but perhaps its possible

didnt actually click on the actual laser but these ones are labby style, though it lists no specs on the selection page just prices, says 405nm
 
There are only a couple companies producing direct-doubled systems, and none of them sell their stuff at laserpointerpen.com. I guarantee those are mislabeled.
 
I've gotten a smaller beam diameter before by focusing in on a slightly concave lens from ~3-4 inches away. Results depend on your lens' focal length, but I've gotten a solid ~2.5mm dot from the lens to about 15 or so feet away. It does diverge like a greenie does, and it takes a lot of time to get it just right, but it's pretty neat to see. I'm all for thinner beams.
 
I'll try to play with sled optics, maybe I can manage to do something. So for DPSS no ideea of what crystals should be used to achieve this?
