I have no idea about this iron. Hot air rework station is something I've yet to learn about. Not sure how it works. Looks good though, and it is very good price. I have this one: http://mro2go.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=82193612 and I absolutly love it. Not sure if this post helps, but all I can say is that I hope you know what's best for your application.

Right now I have a thermo control one, but what I want is hot air aswell and it would be great if it had a vacum nozzle near the iron tip for fumes.

Do you do a lot of SMT rework? It sure comes with lots of fixturing. Hate that shipping though.

Definitely would recommend one that is ESD safe, to prevent static discharge from your iron to your precious diodes

Also, unless you're doing SMD work, the rework station isn't entirely necessary (although it is handy for heatshrinking!).  I just got a rework station and haven't used it a lot yet, but the times I have I've not done so good with it :-[  So, it'll certainly take some practice to use it well.

Also, the one I bought, an Aoyue 968, has the vacuum fume extraction... it's really nice!
