Do you think LPF needs a "trash pit"?

Being the nature of most discussion forums, there will be a continual need to "air out dirty laundry"; More than often, it ends up in the polls, Off topic or general section. I'm simply proposing the creation of a lightly moderated trash pit area in which all the drama is contained. What are your thoughts on this?

An interesting idea. Most forums trash section is reserved for archived threads/posts, but a trash area for all the drama? I think I like that idea... lol

The trades and disputes section should be reserved for "trades and disputes". I'm talking about the "should we ban xxxx" or the "wesdaman fail" type treads...

It's gotten a bit annoying having to sort through the drama. Just my opinion...

Until or unless we get mods, you will continue to see this crap in the threads anyway.

The people that really need to see it will avoid the "trash" thread.

I'm not saying that all crap treads should disappear; some of them do have their points and merits. Most people (myself included) simply don't enjoy digging through trash to find information...

The people that "need to see it" are a lost cause; there is no point in wasting time trying to convince them. If they don't see it after the first "kick in the a$$", they likely won't.

If you read the FAQ you can ignore certain user's threads so you wouldn't have to see those.

I was reading the FAQ the other day to check the rules to see if its against the rules to make multiple accounts. I had thought it was a while ago at least, i read some stuff that DAofO *may* have made a few.

Yeah... we have seen time and time again... any thread is subject to
a Flame War or Trashing by some uncontrollable members...
Without Mods on site when it happens there is no way to really stop it..

Who needs a trash section? That's what all of the other sections are for...

Something like this would be useless without mods IMO. The past month or so shows how much "self-moderation" really works. The quality is just going to keep on declining until something is actually done, but that probably won't happen. I try to sift through all of the crap, but it's gotten out of hand. I think I might just give up on this forum.

i am going to lock a few of the existing ban polls in effort to reduce some of this drama

we are all here for a common reason -- we love lasers.. i dont want fights and stupid stuff to get in the way... please email me any suggested threads that should be locked / etc
