Do Open Can Blu Ray diode exist?

I agree, there is no real point to decanning a diode. Any gain in cooling an heatsinking would be canceled out by the possibility of contamination. But the process of decanning shouldn't be difficult provided you have the right tool.

Thanks, however I am not questioning whether or not decanning is an advantage or not...
I have decanned the diode and am looking to see what others have discovered about the behavior of decanned violet diodes.

RA;

Just go ahead and use the diode.

It will work fine. I would always keep a lens between the didoe and the outside elements.

Thanks.
I intend to. I will be putting an AR 405nm window in the aperture and sealing the lens threads with some teflon tape. Nothing should be able to get inside once it's all set up.

I will be monitoring the diode for signs of degradation or contamination.
Hopefully it will lase when I power it up.
