DIY Xray photos! :)

Those incidents are very serious, but its important to know the difference:

They involve radioactive sources, used to treat cancer and such. These sources are already much more dangerous when intact and used in their proper function, and the problems grew far worse when people stole and dismantled them.

X-ray tubes on the other hand are completely harmless as long as you don't power them up, and even if you do the amount radiation they produce is much lower than that from radiation therapy equipment.
 





Indeed, I hadn't heard of those incidents before and it was a very interesting read.

Over spring break I'm gonna use some Allen Bradley panel equipment to make up a nice control panel for performing safe exposures and make a better camera setup for high quality photos.

Then maybe I'll x-ray some laser related stuff like an XJ-A140 projector, an Arctic, and whatever else I find laying around that might be cool to x-ray :)
 
Aye, I was warning about the procurement of old medical hardware, not the dangers of DIY x-ray equipment. =)
