Decanning diode

Well,
Haven't used my plt450 s4 in a while so i poped a battery in a while ago and what do ya know, something burned onto the diode window. Did a search on decanning and DTR and a few others have posted ways to decan. As alot of you know, I just happen to have some spare dead diodes lieing around to practice on. DTR suggested using a drill but I decided to use a needle file to score it all the way around then break it off. It doesn't look like it but the cans are brass and easily scored. It's worked in practice so here goes nothing.... will edit in results

hi,
there a de canning tool at Thor labs i have one you need this tool. There's thread i posted on LPF checkout out. We need tools all kinds i can't get enough of them..

Go to Thor Labs and search in the tools .. They have diode sockets to .. Ok her ears the pics of what you need.

Hi Pi,
I'm like a boy scout better to have and not need then to need and not have. the way i build lasers it's always an edge in time of need . Instead of sending a tiny diode out to have someone else do wait a million years get charged , well i like doing mods myself. doing is learning . hey you buy it once and one time only. have any diodes with bad windows? send em over just pay postage. I do windows LOL !!
