Dave is Mean to his Diodes (445 Macros) IMAGE HEAVY

I vaguely recall reading somewhere that 593nm lasers are used in observatories as a guide star. Something about exciting Sodium atoms in the atmosphere.
Hardly something that would end up on the commercial market but hey... the possibility is there.

Also, Herrursciences was/is selling a 622nm? diode bar.

Obviously solid state orange is possible and has some applications...
I would love to see some orange available, diode or DPSS.

@PBD WOW, amazing shots. The best I have ever seen from a laser diode. Now I have a better understanding on how it works. Thank to your pictures and your explanations. I was trying to use my microscope to take pictures of a LD, but your results are awesome. So at this moment I am not going to try it anymore ;) It have passed years wishing I could see/read things like this. This kinda things should be in the Wiki.

Thanks, seriously, thanks for your pictures/explanations.
Wish I could help like some of you guys. :thanks:

Saw this post right after reading about the "singlemode" vs. multimode thread.

Amazing pictures, I can actually see the features that I could only assume were there.
