Cypreus II XL 462nm 1.7W 24k Gold Plated!

Hi and thanks, You are very welcome.
Please remind that 24k is not so beautiful to see ... it appears like a lemon color.
In fact my first try was with 24k gold and the result was not so good.
The best results are obtained with gold 18k or less, because the alloy with copper offers beautiful reddish effects!
It is important also to perform plating with a lot of microns. If the plating is done with insufficient microns, the fingers moisture and the continuosly rubbing around the corners can eat rapidly the golden plating!

Thanx for the tips !!!! MMM.mmmm...18K less $$ than 24K Gold....but many, many micron layers = more $$$ How many micron thickness would you suggest ???

Sinner had ONE EDC Cyprus he was willing to sell !!!

Great !!!!!

This build will happen....and will hopefully sport the 700 mW 520 green

Yes run time will be limited....but...then again....to quote Dr. Tyrell...

"The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long - and you have burned so very, very brightly, Roy. Look at you: you're the Prodigal Son; you're quite a prize! "

Hahaha......10 photon credits for the one who identifies the Doctor !!!!

Hi.
I have plated my build with 6 micron at 24K (sic) and then other 2 micron extra at 18K.
I suggest You 6 micron at 18k!

Very nice build. I recognized that as a sinner host immediately. When I purchased mine I had a hard time trying to decide between straight copper or the chrome plating offered aND ended up with the chrome and it's a very shiny beaut.
Agree with the comment of a 1W (1.5 in my case) 520nm heat comment. At least you know that the heat is being conducted through the host well.
Have a couple gold plated pen lasers and the plating is way too thin. Handle them and they start looking more and more chrome. One was just looking very antique and not in a good way so I just kept rubbing with polish to take all the plating off so now it's a bright chrome. Don't know how thick sinners chrome is but it sure seems thick to me.
I'm pretty sure most of my strong output units that take 2 cells will output a nice beam still with one cell. Definately appreciate what a 3 element lens can do.
Curious as to what mistakes were made in other builds you worked on that ended up with so many dead diodes.
Anyways, nice to see you spend the time getting this one right, documenting and sharing with us so thanks. Doesn't matter how many lasers I've put together, I get that same kind of slightly edgy feeling when a build is done and I hit the switch hoping I didn't somehow miss something. +Rep
