Correction lens for 445 nm diode laser

Hi,

I have assambled my first 445 nm laser. I have however discovered that these lasers are made up by an array of what seams to be at least 4 lasers on one ship (I can bearly see 4 sources when focusing on long distance). Is there any way to correct this with optics so the beam can be focused as a more dot-shaped focus?

You can to a certain extent, unfortunately this is how they are you should use a glass lens for 445 and coated for 445
 
Dr Lava's cylindrical lenses are your best bet to improve the beam profile, but they would be hard to fit into a portable.
 
What driver are you using?
What diode housing ("module") are you using?
What lens are you using?

This is what I use:

The driver: 1W 445nm blue laser diode driver / 405nm laser driver - eBay (item 180608692909 end time Feb-04-11 00:25:11 PST)
The laser: 1W 445nm Blue Laser Diode with Lens - eBay (item 320629076994 end time Feb-07-11 15:44:33 PST)

The housing: 405nm/445nm laser module housing w/glass lens - eBay (item 170586873817 end time Feb-04-11 00:13:59 PST)

The included glass lens assambly are assambled with three lenses. Should be suitable for 445 - 405nm lasers.

I have also tried the axis(?) lens.

When focused, the "dot" looks very crisp and sharp, but looks like a short line.

Attached is a picture of an uncollimated beam. When collimated the "dot" will appear as a short line vertically of the horizontal alignment in the picture.

I have a 405 Aixiz glass lens I bought for $12.50 including 2-3 shipping on eBay. I will be putting my 1.4-1.5W laser together tomorrow when my host arrives. I've heard that the Aixiz 405 and 445 glass lenses are the best for burning and for divergence while the 405 G-1 lens is the best for max power on an lpm.
 
The 405-g-1 would be best for burning as well, since it lets the most light through. That's also the reason the aixiz lenses give better apparent profiles. They block more light, therefor not as much of the 'spash' from the die makes it through the aixiz lenses like it does with the 405-g-1.
 
Perhaps this helps... The 405 G-1 lens is best for a tight high power dot, (and burning), at well under 10 feet, but the 445 nm Axixz glass lens is best for a shorter line shaped dot at much longer distances.
(Those fancy and costly optics of course , can make the laser seem to project a more perfect beam, but just don't work into a typical portable build)

Actually, these diodes only have one emitter.
There are different kinds of "multimode" laser diodes.
