No answer yet from CNI, but it's the weekend, soon I should hear from them. It is interesting, and I too, would like to know prices on the PL III 589 nm as well as cost and max output of the GLP, (pen) type. I'll post here when they say. -Glenn

Man the excitement is killing me. :D I am definitely going to be in for one of them, hopefully they have at least 10mW pens. Yellow has to be my favorite laser color so this is the most I have ever been anticipating a new laser. :D:D

Really good find.
Makes me wonder what other colors they have but do not "advertise"
Depending on how much a pen-style is I might be in for one

Not for seem polemic, but ..... i'm just wondering why they made 1342nm 500mW portable units ..... can understand 808nm for burn, can understand 980nm for nightvision (with an expander, ofcourse), can also understand 1064nm for risk lovers (500mW of 1064nm without a guide beam on a portable unit ..... :p) ..... but, 1342nm ? ...... for what, for blind police heatcams on helicopters, passing the safety filters ?? (i really hope not .....)

Will these be better than the 593.5nm pens, I wonder. I've seen videos that show those taking sometimes an entire minute to warm up. Before they start lasing yellow.

The important thing is not the "why would we do it" but the "can we do it" :)

So no-one managed to get a quote yet? These lasers clearly seem more efficient, would that suggest a more reasonable price?

Their weekend should be over soon so assuming they check and respond to their email first thing in the morning we will have a quote in a few hours.

No, Sorry, the pens are tops 5 mW rated, here is the costs of the 589 nm lasers:

Pens:
GLP-589nm-0.6-1mW/Unit USD390.00

GLP-589nm-2mW/Unit USD455.00
GLP-589nm-5mW/Unit USD635.00

PGL III (Flashlight style):
PGL-III-C-589nm-5mW/Unit USD575.00

PGL-III-C-589nm-10mW/Unit USD615.00
PGL-III-C-589nm-20mW/Unit USD685.00
PGL-III-C-589nm-30mW/Unit USD760.00
PGL-III-C-589nm-50mW/Unit USD815.00
PGL-III-C-589nm-80mW/Unit USD945.00

Note: Costs are before shipping and PP fees (if used)
Now I am trying to find out if these are as stable as the other DPSS green, yellow or blue lasers...

I just got the word, these 589 nm's are more stable than the 593.5 nm ones were! Great news! -Glenn

I have mixed feelings about these prices. If they were $100 cheaper for each unit I would be very pleased. I still may have to pick up that 80mW though.

Yes, CNI prices are not the lowest of them all in green lasers, but who else makes yellow lasers, and when the quality is good, I would pay the difference. -Glenn

Awww damn, only 5mW pens. I have a 5mW 593.5, is there any point me getting one of these, or will the color difference be unnoticeable?

I am pretty sure the color will look extremely close but the same mW's s/b brighter. -Glenn
