CNI Group Buy #2 (taken over by styropyro 10-26)

I'm in no hurry and perfectly fine waiting for some more interested parties to get the improved rate... whatever's clever. It's surprising to see 5 drop since CNI is reputable and this is a fairly well publicized GB.

Thanks for the update...

cheers,
c

Sorry I had to drop out... if only I could have more confidence in the seizures issue. If someone is willing to step in and get a 589nm 80mW+ (or a 473nm) I'd be interested in buying it from them :p

:(:(Sorry but I have to drop out too. My daughter's car died and I had to buy a new one for her and her kids. No more dinero.

Styro, yeah this is my 'coming back' post, and i'm right back into the CNI wonderment. Obviously won't be able to make this GB. But, you have any communications with CNI on new WL's?

I'm guessing not... but figured i'd check.

I haven't checked for any new wavelengths and am just going off what was offered before.

At the current rate we do not have enough orders to complete the GB. I am only committing to the price if we have ten orders.

Do you have an updated list? Are we down to less than 10 total or just less than 10 589s?

Here is the updated list.

On a random note, the big tornado that's been in the news recently hit 15 miles from my hometown. I'm going to be visiting there for a little over a week starting Friday to help my friends who have been affected as well as see my family over Thanksgiving. This should not cause any extra delays on top of the ones we are already having.

Hey Styro,
First off it is good you are ok after the tornados. I hope your friends and family didn't lose everything. We went through this type of thing with Hurricane Sandy last year in NJ. We lost power for 6 days , but we were lucky and had very little damage. Weather has really becone a scary thing in the past few years. Everyone is affected everywhere.

Anyway, just to confirm with the GB, are we on hold until we get 10 confirmed buyers for the 589nm 80mw? Just want to know so I can allocate my funds. Thanks again and good luck.

Bruce

I'm sure everyone remembers our debate on imports....well found this recently on the CNI page. wonder if the FDA finally got to them.

The lasers were manufactured with precision to give our customers the ultimate in laser excitement at an affordable price. With their stylish redesigned casings, these lasers will create a stir wherever you use them. In addition, we accept wholesale and retail both.

According to 21 CFR 1040.11(b), only Classes I, IIa, II or IIIa in the visible wavelengths PGL model series of surveying, leveling and alignment (SLA) laser products are allowed to be shipped into the United States, non-compliant laser products can not be sold to U.S. importers.

any thoughts? I'm not a part of the GB anymore...but thought I'd point it out.

Well, is the "filter" setup still good to go with CNI?
I actually think that's fine, if that's what they're doing.

In effect it *IS* a 5mW laser at that point. Why this wasn't thought of a long time ago, honestly, i'm not sure.

I really don't know why so many people are dropping out because of a filter. Unscrewing the top cap on a PGL is no great shakes. I just use a rubber strap wrench if I can't do it by hand. It's seriously no big deal.

And hey, free ND filter. I do not mind that one bit.

These WILL be 5mW lasers, and will be labeled as such. However, I'm not so sure it should have been posted here, because we know that it's read. Of course, most of us here aren't going to go shooting anything at aircraft but, meh.

If CNI was providing PGL 520's I'd be in this GB.
EDIT: Actually, interested in PGL-C 671nm... will contact Styro

I'm dropping out because I don't think customs actually test any lasers. I believe it's a game of chance - they look at some packages, if they see it's got lasers they'll probably judge the laser's power by size and seize them. Of course being actual <5mW lasers with the filters you might have some legal recourse but that's way too much trouble.

Might as well just label them <5mW and hope they believe it.

I just can't gamble this much money without some sort of arrival guarantee by CNI.

I wonder if it might be a good idea to continue this after the new year. One less thing to worry about during the holidays.

Yes I think that is a good idea. Trying to put everyone's orders together over the holidays would not turn out well, and maybe we can hit quota if we wait.
