CNI Group Buy #2 (taken over by styropyro 10-26)

One thing to think about in regards to having them all shipped as parts is that the lens they use is not built into the module. You will need to find a way to affix it at your desired focus.

^ I really don't like where this is going.

I emailed Ava about getting the lasers as parts and this was her reply:
Dear Drake Anthony,

Thanks for your email, it is my great honor to provide you service.
I have enquired our engineer about this, I will give you the updated information
once i get it from our engineer.

Please contact me without any hesitation if you need any help.

Best regards,
Ava Zheng
Sales Engineer

Once she gives me info on that I will ask the questions that you all want me to ask.

Ava still hasn't replied so I sent her another email. Hopefully she gets back to me soon.

For what is worth, I received a HL650nm 100mw, and an aluminum case (the ones they give with PL lasers) yesterday from Laserbtb via DHL, and DHL had opened the outer and inner boxes to inspect them. They resealed them using DHL "security" tape, but the package did get through customs.

I got a reply! Thoughts??

Dear Drake Anthony,
Thanks for your email, it is my great honor to provide you service.
I enquired our engineer, it seems that less than 5mW portable laser can be sent to
US, so we have to add filter inside the nose to reduce the output power to 5mW,
please
confirm that if it is ok.

Ok with me AS LONG as it can be removed easily and/or you remove it before shipping it to us

Brilliant I don't know why other sellers haven't thought of that before to get past customs .Like yeah test my laser oh 5mW damn we can't steal it from you,For our own personal use .

CNI labels there lasers as required. Won't customs just read them?

That's a brilliant idea, as long as it can be easily removed and does not affect the exterior looks.

Did they ever say what happens in case customs seizes our lasers?

So does every other company. <5mW is a very common, COMMON label.

Though this idea is brilliant. Gotta hand it to CNI there.

if they are only putting a sticker on it thats great, if they are adding a filter onto I am not technically profiecent to remove it. As Brendon7258 stated "Ok with me AS LONG as it can be removed easily and/or you remove it before shipping it to us"

I am good with that scenario

I didn't read that Ava was going to put false stickers on the lasers, only a filter. Also, does it seem likely that customs puts all the lasers through an LPM? Some of these are large lasers. I've had quite a few lasers delivered lately with no problems. I asked about customs and was told DHL isn't a good company to use overseas. They Start with UPS labeling the packages as LED flashlights and then USPS once here in the US. Very rare problems this way, I'm told. And as Brendon7258 and brucemir bring up, i don't know if I could remove a filter properly, either.

Note to styro--

Ask for the filter to be placed directly in front of the module before it is sent through lenses if they can do that. Make sure it's not glued on to the front-- the inside of the head is threaded so it should be doable..

The laser head itself screws off of the III-C host revealing the module on the stick, and the optics in the head.

That way, the disassemby/assembly can be done by anybody, without the hassles of reassembling major parts such as the focus or the on/off shutter. That shutter is a major pain in the @$$ to fix.
