Jake, unless you know how to ship backwards in time, you are very wrong. People had 6x's over one week before you even returned from your vacation and accepted your DHL package with your 6x's.

I still have not received the 6x's i ordered from you (they were only shipped to me yesterday - not complaining, just saying). But i do already have a couple of them. Got them before new years! (BTW, if perchance you do know how to ship back in time, please let me know, cos it might come very handy some day!)



As for the GB profits. It is true, that the definition of a GB is becoming distorted here. But Dave, i believe you were in only one TRUE GB so far, and for that, someone had to do a lot of work for free! And that, even tho the GB consisted of a few big packages to be shipped, instead of 50 small ones!


Because of that, i think it is only fair if the GB doer does get a little something out of the GB. Especially, when it's 50-100 small orders. I wouldn't expect people to do it for free. It's about how much they charge. And there are people, who charge WAY MORE than Jake and don't do a discount when you make a larger order, even tho a larger order is this much less work for them.

But then again, it is true, that many of the GB's (the "GBs") are done for selfish reasons. Damn, with the definition distorted like that i confuse myself about what i'm trying to say..  ;D

yeah it was always usually understood taht a person should at least get a little bit of $ for thier time, but there's a big difference between $1 per order to $10 per order.

I really do want to say that these GB's were done primarily because one person didn't have the money to afford to get the minimum order by themselves. So, they would inquire from the community to see if anyone else was interested in getting in on the purchase at the same cost + shipping fee's and a minor fee for themselves. It has been a bit distorted over time though as everyone figured that it would be very easy for themselves to get a little bit of the pie. I DO NOT BLAME ANYONE! hell it's how my first run of barrels was paid for. Will be the same way my third run finishes.

I'm a fulltime student. I make literally $400 a month from my work study. I'm by no means rich. so I've got to rely on others to help me. and I must say without this wonderful community, it wouldn't be able to happen. Soo jake and whomever. Don't think anyone is angry or thinkin you need to stop. You don't. Just make it more realistic. If you've got them in hand, they go in the b/s/t section not GB section.

thats not true. you order alot more at 1 time than anyone else. you told me yourself that you were ordering 180 phr sleds. that breaks down to a little over 5$ a sled....your still lying....

i dont see a proble with your prices for selling the ones you have in stock but running gb's with the same prices is a little much...

Also, we don't all get the same price.. The supplier tries to squeeze everyone for what they're worth!

Because of that it is hard to judge from the sale price.

I once tried to make a "Open Can Sled Store", I ended up with a bunch of sleds nobody wanted to buy. There was maybe 1 or two people interested....

Things like "stores" dont happen without the support of the community.

also about the Group Buys... I have not been browsing through the other threads much at all, but I have noticed cases where People have been getting sleds and "group buying them" for higher prices than I have been offered. Then When I find out who the supplier is, It turns out the guy (no pointing fingers) is making at least 10-15 dollars per sled!!!  Then There are people with "suppliers that have low prices" and they start to blabber on about how somebody is ripping the forum off, but when it comes down to "OK so tell us who 'your' supplier this is so that we can all get them for cheaper" those people do not say anything.

The fact of the matter is that a Lot of adolescents and even younger adults on this forum are finding Group Buys as a great way to make good business. Then they turn the whole "group buys" section of the forum into a savage marketplace. People "sabotaging" other peoples "businesses", competition for prices, etc.

The only way to solve this IMHO is to make it so that not everyone on the forum can host a GB.

That reminds me of something I've been thinking of lately.
It would be good to know how old people are - or at least whether they are 18 or 21. Why? so we aren't selling to (or being sold to by) minors. I'm a bit nervous about the prospect of some kid getting a laser here, then doing something stupid - and then the parents...

I'm not saying that younger folks are less responsible, just that there's more liability for the rest of us if they are irresponsible.

Vendors and Group Buyers are more exposed than the rest of us, because they do business with more people. How does a vendor - any vendor - keep minors from buying over the Internet? What kind of I.D. checking could possibly work? or is "due diligence" sufficient?

Discussing this should probably happen in a different section... anybody want to tackle it, or has it been discussed already? Or is it a non-issue?
