Re: CLOSED! Taking payments. ROUND 2!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!
The taxes are only for if you import something from outside of the EU and intend to use it inside the EU. It's like a VAT, yeah.
If customs inspectors seize our lasers, or if there is added tax to be paid, is the buyer stuck with the bill?
It is both alarming and eye opening to learn how spoiled we are in the U.S.
In the U.S., we take for granted that when a (domestic) seller promises to DELIVER an item for a negotiated price, the seller will do so. If the seller miscalculates, misquotes, or runs into unforeseen expenses, they have two choices, either refund the money or pay the difference.
As a buyer, I’ve developed the attitude it is the SELLER’s responsibility to get the package to my door. After all, if the item is lost or damaged in transit, it is they who file the insurance claim, not the buyer. These attitudes may only apply to domestic shipping.
Our European friends are accustomed to international shipping, and some of the pitfalls that befall those ordering goods across international lines. They may have a more realistic perspective.
Our Asian friends are experts, really experts at under engineering and managing expenses. I used to think the only risk I took ordering a laser product from them was they might misrepresent the product. But, it is sounding as if any additional fees and/or losses due to customs seizures befall the buyer as well.
