climbing 1,768 foot Transmission Tower

Someone linked me this a week or so ago and I was terrified FOR that guy, especially at the end. I'm not a heights person at all and that thing is just freakin' ridiculous!

Wow, thats a so never racking! A 1700 ft free climb wow that crazy!!!

That's nuts.

I would love to play with a high powered laser up there at night.:D

'Hey Bob, go back to the truck and get me a 9/16 wrench would ya' lol.

Thats like climbing the CN Tower 553.3 metres (1,815 ft) tall....Screw that

No way could I do that! That would give me major butt pucker!

When I worked at a gold mine in Nevada I had to climb up to the top of a lime elevator and change a bearing, that was at 170ft. That was bad enough! you could feel it move with a 10mph breeze. It makes me shudder to think about 1768ft.

What I want to know is how they build one of those section by section. Definitely some gutsy guys.

You know I always wondered about that myself!

How they get all the equipment up to the top, helicopter maybe?

All i know is that they have BALLS! I might be half monkey, but monkeys don't operate that high. I'm fine climbing up a 20 foot tree because atleast if you fall, you might catch a few branches on the way down.

That's about 1765 feet to high for me...
IIRC... they install those towers using Sky Hooks...

Like rangedunits said.. it might be a good idea to teach
those guys some skydiving... it would be a lot easier/faster
coming down or in case of an approaching storm...
