CL-16RGY scanner review

oh the video! i haven't heard from him yet, but i will definately have it soon!

oh and also, i plan on bringing my own camera to this one, so then i have the vid straight away!

The DMX is OK if you are into playing with it but I like the way it follows
most audio input. Classical gets a little wierd -- Disco classic ??

Hi Mike, did you get your power switch and ext mic jack installed? If so what type of mic are you using now?
As far as the power goes I'm using a switched power strip to power on my fog machine as well as laser scanner at once.

hey mike, have you ever thought of installing a keyswitch on it, just to be on the safe side, and to make it look more proffesional? ;D

Hmm can't seem to find the CL-16RGY model on the eBay store. The only one I can find that looks the same is this model L318RGY.

Anyone know if they are exactly the same?

Key Switch ?? I'm not professional !! I just treat the neighbors now and then from my back yard !!
As for mods..... Yes I added a power switch and a switch to go between the internal capacitor mic and a line input -- You need capacitors to isolate the DC drive voltage provided to the internal mic.
Line input is nice because it is not related to the volume control setting (or shouldn't be) ....

If any one can help with my question above that would be great. Also all the photos I have seen are taken looking at the laser. What sort of pattens does it make on the wall? Does it make sort of Spirograph patterns like a home made 2 mirror x/y scanner?

Cheers
XG

Xgeek that is essentially the same scanner, they may have changed the model number, put the power and features are identical. The patterns are not like a spirograph scanner, because the laser uses "blanking" the red and green lasers are switched on and off very quickly, so you don't have to have continuous lines to make shapes.

The blanking also controls the colour. Red and green on its own, or when both on , Orange to yellow. The patterns are squares, beams, ropelight effects cycling the 3 colours, It is pretty good in sound active mode with some music.

This is the only picture I have taken of the patterns.

Cool many thanks for the answers. Just seems strange that most people look into the beam rather than reflected off a wall.
I found this nice video of the CL-16RGY on Youtube:-

yup that is the one, but that looks like the 260mw version? i also put some vids on youtube of it, just search for RGY laser show, and my username is FOURTYTOTHEFLOOR :D ;)

I HAVE THE DVD!!!!!!! it is about 2 cd's long, but i don't think you need to see the whole thing, so i will just shrink the dvd with the best/most shots of the laser! May i advise you though, this was a christian youth concert, and has a fair bit of religious stuff in it. But if you don't really care and just wanna see it, ummm tell me a good program that i can shrink it with! i could use divx, but not everyone has it, so what do you reccomend? i have tried "super", but it seems to be erroring alot, so yeah.
thanks

oh ok, i will post some pics, then maybe pic out a few good parts to upload as vids. will post them soon!

k the pics aren't real good, but you get the general idea! In that pic, not many kids where there, as the concert just started. I know someone will pic this out, but the laser is shining into peoples faces, BUT before the concert, when the hazer was running, i left the laser going, and went down to the stage, and looked at the laser, and the beam was significantly duller, and also it was constantly moving, so i believe all went well! In that pic, there is only a little bit of laser showing, but that little section was part of a bigger scanning liquid sky, but as you all know, scanners are hard to take pics of! enjoy and i will post more, and possibly a small video later!
