Boost driver ideas...

yeah, thanks. my dad has some solder paste, and we have a old toaster oven.

Any tips for getting the board to come out. Toner transfer method. I think were using the HCl solvent, i forget. But assume so. Thanks!!
 





trial and error! just make sure your toner is well stuck before you etch.
and if you use a marker to touch up your board, it might be worth doing a test board to find the best type of marker. some don't stick very well in the etchant.

I never got around to making those high side amp boards... got sorta busy.

I use photo paper, but i take a blade and peel it into 2, the glossy part and just paper part, it makes soaking alot easier and faster, then toss it inot hot water (i boil mine and put it into a cup). you want to print on the glossy part of coarse
 
I have a high side amp layout. and a non high side. Since I'm making a blu-ray first. I will make the non high side amp first, since its case is not ground and it is not NECESSARY that it have high side amp. :) and I'll have more room on the board for mistakes. This ten pin sot23 package is TINY. AHhhhh!

blueray DOES have a grounded case. the xbox 360 hd-dvd drive diodes are the ones that don't.
 
the xbox 360 hd-dvd drive diodes ARE the blueray diodes. sooooo... you contradict yourself...


The phr-803t diode is the one i will be using.
 
they may be blue, but 'blueray' is the disk format the playstation 3 uses. HD-DVD is the format the xbox drive could read (for playback of hd-dvd movies)
so the xbox 360 hd-dvd drive diodes are not blueray. however they have a blue ray ;)
so yeah when you said blueray, i assumed you where talking about the ps3 diodes.

Firstly , could you post a Schematic for dat amp driver thing?
And what is exactly the difference between these two Drivers?
Could i add a small SMD pot anywhere to adjust output current?

the difference is that the driver without the amp is adjustable by a low value sense resistor which carries the diode current.
the driver with the high side current amplifier is adjustable by low current, higher value resistors, so you can use a smd pot with it.

also the un amped version has the negative pin of the diode at 0.5V with respect to ground, so you can't have them touch. this is annoying when you are installing everything in a metal case, and your diode has its negative pin connected to the diode case.
its perfectly fine for driving PHR diodes, as the case is isolated from the pins.
one other thing to note is that the chip used is not supposed to be outputting more than 5.5V, with a PHR diode, the unamped version reaches 6V (due to the larger sense resistor), and the amped version reaches 5.5V. The 6V output probably leads to less efficiency, but it does still work.
