Re: Fellow LPF Member in trouble

I donated $100 (because you asked how much)
I'm assuming you already knew that since you decided to give me four tickets.

I would like to reiterate my thoughts on shipping:
I stand firm that the winners should pay shipping (although I can see how it could, potentially, deter donations).
With that said, I can understand your position on having the donators pay the shipping and would like to offer: If I win any of the lasers, I would be more than happy to pay the shipping costs (actually, I would insist). :takeit:

Thanks for offering Master! For now to keep things simple and organized donators will pay for shipping. My goal is to create a fun chance for people to win some good lasers and at the same time help a LPF member out :)

@Master if you win a laser we will talk via PM :p

Re: Fellow LPF Member in trouble

Hey Greenlander, Thank you for doing this. Its awesome.
Is the link not working for anyone else? Its not for me.
Jeff

Me and Jeff decided to remove the GoFund me link as it only created more confusion and problems to keep track of donations and on top of that 7% of every donation was taken by the website. I replaced it with Jeff's PayPal link which will show who donates and donations can be confirmed by Jeff.

Just curious does the green square by my username count as positive rep? I'm not entirely sure of how the rep system works, but certainly would like to help out a laser enthusiast in need. In general, when is it OK to give positive rep to somebody? I haven't been on LPF long enough to learn the etiquette of giving/receiving rep.

You decide when it's ok to +rep someone, however unless it has changed you need 50 posts to rep someone and a rep of at least 1.

Yep, the green squares count as positive reputation while red squares count as negative reputation.

When you chose to give a member reputation you have two options, either give him positive reputation which will add points, (if you have enough rep yourself) it will add a green square until the total of 10 have been reached which is the maximum, same for red squares. From then on positive reputation will increase his rep power which as mentioned before will allow that user to give or take more rep power from others.

There generally isn't a rule about giving reputation around. If you see a post worthy of reputation give that user some, vice versa for negative reputation but no need to do that for every post you like or dislike :p

Ok, so it appears that if I look at my profile and check the reputation tab that there have been a few people that have left me positive reputation. So, it appears that I am eligible for the drawing if I donate, correct? (I should also note that I'm 21, have Eagle Pair glasses, and have 20+ posts)

Re: Fellow LPF Member in trouble

Let him donate and plus rep him too. Also Alex if you look closely you will see that we both have 11 green squares. I guess we are special.

See what happens to the pacman in my sig. Green rep good and tasty while red is evil poison

Re: Fellow LPF Member in trouble

Individual shipping for the lasers I am donating is three dollars less than what they normally cost direct from China, with their shipping paid all the way to the USA. I am happy to pay for the shipping of the items I am donating to the CONUS winners, it's only fifty some dollars total for me to do that for all ten of them going ten different directions, no problem.

Ok, that sounds way more reasonable. Thanks for that. For some reason, I had a way larger cost drawn up in my head for shipping. I'll cease my protests! ;)

Re: Fellow LPF Member in trouble

I donated $10 earlier today. Thanks for letting me participate, guys. :)

Re: Fellow LPF Member in trouble

So, I don't understand how there aren't more tickets/donations yet. Greenlander, you keeping the count updated? Is something like this usually a slow process (or is this just a new process)?

Re: Fellow LPF Member in trouble

Are we supposed to reply that we donated? If so I donated last night $20. Sorry if I missed that request.
