Usually I just use some compressed air from a computer duster and it seems to work fine.

As above keep covers on when not in use , be careful , only rub lightly when using any cleaning agent and ultrasonic I have found does great job when finished with soft lint free cloth .

Seems there are a few ways to go about cleaning the lenses. Most important is what is comfortable for you, and works the best. I have not had good luck with the micro-fiber cloth method. The Q-tip, after I fix any loose threads, works best for me. Have tried regular glasses cleaner, but that did not remove all the dirt. Also tried laser disc cleaner and was about the same. The Q-tip with 91% alcohol method works best for me. Never thought about vinegar as a cleaning fluid though. It is good for regular glass and not leaving streaks, so as long as it doesn't hurt the AR coating I guess that would be ok.
Definitely need to use some kind of lens cover, or even better when not in use keep your laser in a case. I found out the hard way just leaving the aperture exposed it will pick up dust and debris. Especially if you smoke.

I use 91% rubbing alcohol, but I only have cheap 3-element glass lens. I wouldn't use it on the plastic, because rubbing alcohol can muck up acrylic. I assume that the other 9% is water, but it isn't explicitly stated on the label past a full percent of accuracy, so kinda playing with fire there.
I hear that one of the best methods is distilled water and soap, using clean fingers to rub it in. Then rinse and air dry.
Been wanting to pick up some acetone, but don't know enough about how to get it in pure form. Does one just show up at walgreens and ask for their finest acetone, or is it one of those things you have to get specially from a chemical supply?

no t sure about acetone, but I just used some pre-moisened lens cloths with OK results. Quick easy and they came out well. I actually got a 400mw increase with my mag light laser. I was pretty surprised since they were just Disposable wipes.
