What would be the best driver for this that still falls under 1/2"

Hi
Micro Flex Drive V5 order from DTR It has small dimensions I use them for lower power diodes and the 488’s

They are out of stock ATM
I ordered some of these to try out, I have several 488's running on lm317's and it will be nice if these will work.....I know I drive my 488's @ 250ma and they draw about 6.75V so I will see.......these drivers say BOOST and 3.7-5.5VIN so output V should capable of more than 5.5 I hope.

I have a few of these drivers, handy little boost drivers but for whatever reason it seems like its doesn't like the higher Vf diodes. Used it to run a sharp 505nm 30mW and couldn't get it bright enough to my liking, maybe we just gotta mod the shunt resistor and allow for more current output. On the other hand i also used this driver to run a SONY 405nm 150mW and it worked perfectly.

If you can get your hands on this driver, i can recommend them. Sadly its a fixed current (280mA) but that is plenty for most of our single mode blues and greens. The odd 10mm round form factor may be a boon or bane depending on your host though.

Edit: This post makes it look like im addressing redcowboy but its a general reply.

I've had the X-Wossee drivers fry more of those diodes than I want to admit so steer away from them.

Considering me lucky then I got one driving my 481 and the other my 638.. I am looking into designing a boost driver for diodes such like these too. Man we are loosing too many of our old options, all going out of stock. I may design even more drivers but I think the 3A buck I have and the to be designed boost will be enough for now.

hello, could you please share your experience using those drivers??

thank you

This will work just fine for the Sharp 488nm.
I set mine @ 250ma or you can use your LPM and with a G2 or G8 lens adjust the pot until you see 110-120mw

Guys based on that diagram and voltage drop, how many diodes do i need to use in my dummy load to simulate sharp 488nm 55mw ld?

I will be driving it around 200mA

Do i need 8-9 diodes, or will 6 be enough as my dummy?

Thank you.

8 diodes looks about right but I just set mine by the output or use an inductive meter.

You can see the voltage and current along with the output in DTR's images here or on his sales page.

If you're using an ACS1500 they come with the pot turned all the way down, so if you use a G2 or G8 lens and a laser power meter you can just adjust to 100mw output and that will be about 200ma. from your driver.
