That isn't what you might call pocket change!

I personally like bullion. To say I collect coins is not technically true but one of the best ways to buy bullion is in the form of coins and my favourite is the Sovereign. Not as large or costly as the Kruegerrand, (sic), it is handy to have around. Especially in the last two years! ;)

I wish I had bought a lot of gold a couple of years ago. I'm not much for collecting coins, but gold is a fairly rock steady investment. (except for the fact that your investment is tangible and really easy to steal!)
 
i hear that there are only five other coins like it, most are owned by queen elzibeth, but a couple are privately owned. if i had 1 million dollars i would buy one of those then buy somethng cool with it.
 
That thing is awesome, I'd love one! For 100kg the coin isn't that big, just because gold is so dense at 19.3 g/cc.

I collect coins, I used to be into it a lot more a long time ago but I like to keep up on them still. I managed to get the entire wheat cent set by the time I was 9. :D

My freaken mom, god bless her soul, decided one day to roll my wheat pennies, and cash them in for no reason.

My brother, the cheap f**k, wouldnt give his wife enough money to buy a present for his daughter inlaw's wedding. She rolled his thousands of dollars coin collection, and cashed them in for $80. My brother lost his mind, flew down to the bank, and recovered about a 1/3 of the collection. :crackup: I LOL when he told me.
 
I don't have any rare coins, but do have a few of the holograms pictured here. They were made by Doug Miller in the mid '80s and offered in The Sharper Image catalog until the Secret Service banned the product and actually smashed the masters. The plates sold had a disclaimer along the bottom edge saying it was a holographic image and not legal tender, but that didn't save them. The best plates had very uniform color and really looked like there was a bill under the glass. One of the copies I have doesn't have the disclaimer.:shhh:

I also collect coins, and Zippos, and Lava Lamps among other things. Boy do I have a problem.

I have quite a few coins including some on the newer gold ones. I really want to purchase one of the $20 gold coins from the early 1900s. I have one of the 1oz. silver eagle coin sets from 2006. I'm glad I got one directly from the mint. Those sets sold and still sell for a lot of money. Makes me wish I bought some additional sets to sell. I think the mint sold them for $100. A lot of them have been going for $200+ on ebay. Here's one example.

other then lasers and the such, i collect quite a bit of coins.

Complete set or Australian pennys (x 1000s of same dates), excluding 1930 (hard one to get). Rarest out of the lot is my 1946, 1919 double dot, and some others, all rougly $2000 - $3000. All in total, with a rough value, about $200,000 for the pennys alone, lol too bad no one buys them.

Australian 3 a 6 Pence, full sets, including the 1921/22 overdate.

Plus heaps off foriegn coins.

And one, claimed to priceless, but no value because someone drilled a hole on the top, to make a pendant. Dated back to about the 1100's :mad:
