Hi, I was just wondering if any Australians have attempted to import a laser after the new customs crap last July, banning them?? They say it must be <1mw, I bought a 5mw recently of dx and I waiting to see if it comes through. I've heard one other story were someone got one through. Ill let you know. So ye, anyone tried?, thx.

I was going to have a shot on a few occasions...

But since I already have all the high powered hand-held lasers I'll ever need I decided it wasn't worth the risk :) I have imported lab-lasers (mains powered lasers) and they went through without any trouble :)

hey man did it get through?
my got confiscated

You guys are having some serious problems :D
I love it here in Poland, where non customs care about lasers, you can get whatever you want trough, even marked laser with > 200mW.

I can't wait till one of you Australians gets made an example of...

I can wait...:) haha

i had a few confiscated awhile back, 3 to be exact, but i got refunded by the company, so +1 for ledshoppe on that behalf.

Not worth the risk with any international Laser POINTERS, i said "pointers" any thing
else laser related like all laser modules/labby style systems/parts/diodes/or pointers that have been dismantled and parts shipped seperatley, should get throw fine,
And it might be a good idea to ask the company kindly to maybe tweak the description of the box, say " replacement flashlight parts or what not". rather than LASER..haha

Another methob could be trying to PM another member thats in AUS that has laser parts and pointers and ask them, they might be able to organise something

Good Luck.

I have a 50mW green laser for sale pm me if you are interested! I am in sydney Australia

btw i buy my lasers in parts then build them my self.. so much easier and have had no problems at all with customs

The only way you could get a laser past customs into AU is buy one that DOESN'T actually look like a laser (Flashlight type), and not have them write "light pen" or "laser" on the customs declaration slip. Or, get them disassembled, although that may be a bit harder, especially from DX, ledshoppe etc.

Laser modules/labbies get through fine, I haven't had one confiscated yet despite the many I have had come through.

Hey things, you got a spare green laser goggles for sale by any chance.. I need a cheap pair since I'm a bit short for $$ atm.. hopfully getting payed at the end of this week...

Thanks -Adrian

hey, ive been thinking about importing a 5mW green laser from ebay, what do you think the chances are of it getting through customs. When you guys got your lasers confiscated did you get fined or anything?

nah just a letter in the mail. and for chances of getting it through customs i guess it depends on the seller. but it should get through fine as long as its not too overpowered

I'm pretty sure you can't get ANY laser over 1mw in AUS, thats what the new laws state and even a 5mw will be taken. I recently lost my 50mw green for dx by customs.

LED Shoppe has them for ~$25 without any discount codes.
