Thanks csshih, i just finished it up a couple days ago. What happened to yours that made it pop :D

well, I was desoldering a bunch of the ground wires inside the case when I guess I bridged something in there. plugging in the PSU resulted in no luck. -- no power at all. (some sort of internal protection?)
when I tried to redo and clean everything and plugged it in, it worked fine, for about 30 seconds..
then the bright blue flash came and the dorm circuit breaker tripped. :( .. luckily, each room is wired independently.. :o

no idea how my old PSU fried. it stopped working the same day. It seems I'm having really bad luck with electronics lately.
is there is a possibility that you could mod one for me? I'm curious as to what you would charge!

Good work, also the "recycling" part .....

By the way ..... about these "casio" fans, are nimebea products, and the serie 1511 perhaps a custom build ..... the more similar one that can be found for public sale, i think is the 1611 serie .....

LOL, i hope mine never makes a nice blue flash  These PSU's are pretty neat with there short circuit protection and everything built into them. If you cross any of the hot wires with the ground it'll turn off immediately. When you ran yours for those 30secs did it have a load on it, i have heard of modded PSU's popping if they don't have a load on them. I have 5 1W white leds mounted inside mine as a built in load, in the event i turn it on without anything connected

hrm. well I doubt it was because there was no load. before I popped open the case I turned "on" the PSU by bridging the green wire to test it and left it there for a minute or so.

It must have been me poking around with the iron :p oh, the bright blue flash was accompanied by your standard burnt electronics smell...

just gotta love the mystery smoke eletronic components expel in their death throws :D
