Are there any single mode 445s out there?

I'm just wondering. I know they'd probably be expensive as all get-out with the lack of a consumer product to harvest them from. If they exist, what sort of powers might one expect?

I would suspect the closest thing your looking for is 473nm Modules, which are pretty expensive and are available in powers no greater than 200mW I believe.

There's a guy named kingston meo selling some diodes that are probably single-mode on here. He had a listing for them on ebay as well. Lower power of course, but they were something like <$100 maybe?

They're ~$100-200 on eBay I believe, they're listed as 'SINGLE NODE', which made me chuckle a tiny bit. They're max 50mW and not truly single mode, but they're definitely better than nothing or buying a 473 setup. And you can get 473 in powers greater than 200mW.

I think the only TEM00 modes I've heard of are from expensive fiber-coupled 445nm lasers. They only go up to about 45mW however.

The Nichia single mode blues are still in the low four figures, price wise. They re not going to go much below the price of a air cooled 488 argon in bulk sales, which is about 3000$. If a huge demand came around, they would drop in price. They are mainly going into bio analysis gear, so not a huge demand.

A skilled holography person got single mode from the high power Nichias at low power and with a external grating for feedback tuning. ie ECDL operation.

He has more promising, more recent, data elsewhere.

that's some nice data there.. impressive! His whole little site is pretty amazing.
