OMG LOL :o 38 old playing with lasers.... Sorry but sounds funny :-X
Do your parents not watch TV? Judging by your age, (8-11 ?), your parents are probably in their late thirties early forties. Is it funny when they watch tv? :-?
TV and lasers have nothing general ;D and you are wrong about age anywayz.. Dunno but it kinda strange :-/ to waist money for proffessional lasers just mess around ::) [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I suppose in Lithuania you spend most of your life trying to get a British Passport and across our borders ::)
Is that supposed to be a joke? Or do you seriously believe that all foreigners are trying desperately to get into the UK and somehow ruin it for the rest of us?

If the former, not funny, if the latter - think about what you are saying before someone takes serious offence.

If i was lithuanian I'd be fairly pissed off by that comment. As I am from the UK I am just faintly embarressed.

Unless I'm missing something here, in which case i apologise.

Anyway, at this time i love lasers too, but im 99% sure that after month or two ill be sorry of waisting money for them. Temporarly i got only 1 laser, but planning to order more powerful ;D

Great posts Xan ;) I love your narration. Age is but a number. I am 37 and I love lasers. My kids love them even more than I do.

Things, you may look like a mini Jeremy Clarkeson , but you are one of the most mature 13 year olds I have had the pleasure to meet. You will go far my friend. ;)

Now I will show my age. Holiday to Panama anyone?

Jase

Glad to hear it. There are all sorts of highly politically charged problems with the level of immigration in the UK due to the current economic success of the country and the desire by many people who don't live in this country to search for a better life elsewere (here), but I don't see that these kinds of contentious issues should be used as a lame semi-insult on a message board about lasers.

Personally i think lasers ARE a toy in the sense that you might consider a race car a toy. Not for young or immature children (exceptions may apply), potentially highly dangerous (if used in the wrong way) but, unless you do professional work as a visual DJ or similar, pretty much indulged in just for fun by many forums members here.

I'm a visual DJ, or lighting technician, or whatever you want to call it, and i use my lasers for that sometimes, infact there is this new laser effect out, that is selling for alot of money, but IMO all the internals are just diffraction gratings and motors.

That's pretty cool; using lasers at musical events is something i want to get in to eventually as i have friends who do visual DJing and if i could bring along a working laser capable of making cool patterns I'd be very popular.

But for now, (and i suspect for many other forum members as well) the only reason i play with lasers is for fun. Very careful fun.

The lasers i use for it are only good for beam shows really, since my RGY can't do "drawings" and animations etc. i will eventually get some proper galvo's although untill i buy myself some good speakers and start a mobile service, i don't have alot of money.

Tesla: Lasers are pretty much what you want to make of them. My wife works until late every Friday night, and every friday night the kids shout "laser party!!!" so I fire up the smoke machine and the RGY scanner and a load of their favourite music and they dance their way until bedtime.

On my own I love to colour mix using my Dichros and the not so well known "hole in the mirror trick" to achieve all sorts of colours from white to blue , orange etc, but these take time to set up. So Lasers have become a part of my family, my kids have grown up with them, accepting them as the norm.

Did someone say PINK?

Lol things. I really meant to say ORANGE...

That looks like fun.

When i say 'toy' i certainly don't mean that in a derogatory way. I play with toys all the time and i'm an adult! Just my toys tend to be a bit more dangerous / exciting that they used to be :)
