Anyone here is audiophile?

The nice thing about being an audiophile is that people actually appreciate your stuff. You show them a $1000 portable laser and they're like "so uh..You spent all of that money on a green light that can burn things and blind people".

You show them your sound system/home theater and they're like "holy shit that's awesome".
Here's my beauty

lol.is that an amplifier?

Ok.Me myself can be considered not an audiophile but I like to buy Branded earphone/headphone coz they They have 'value'.I also love listening to good sound reproduction.

I have sennheiser cx 550 and sennheiser HD 238.they are nice although I dont really satisfy with their sound.

My cx 550 the right earpiece sound a bit less from the right(not as loud).though it's only noticeable if you have listening to it for a long time.

My hd 238 otherwise are really bad if listening in high volume because the headphone tend to distort. But if listening in average volume they sound nice for an open-headphone.

I have thinking wants to buy a pair of monster turbine. But they're so expensive(245 dollar us) at my place that I doubt if its worth it.

I've got a great system, but it came from places like radio shack drawers, salvaged TVs, goodwill, and ebay and I built most of it myself.

If it didn't cost 20 grand. Does that make me a newb?

I don't have audiophile passion, but I appreciate nice equipment. I use Shure E4s and an 80 gig RockBoxed ipod.

I might pick up a nice amp someday, just for curiosity's sake.

Yes, I really love good hifi-components as well. Especially Accuphase is my favourite :-)

In addition I've got a pair of B&W Matrix 802 series III. All of the components are rather old, but still in good working condition.

Best regards

Those valve amps look very epic, might have too look into those.

I wouldn't say I was quite an audiophile but I'm getting there :p

I have a set of B&W 602 S2 fronts and center, currently with a NAD C370 and yamaha DSP E-800 sound processor, but I just upgraded too a Denon 1909 HDMI amp which saves me having too use the processor for 5.1 + glorious HDMI is included.

I'm looking to buy a 5.1 system to replace my JWIN 5.1 multimedia system :D

Is anyone here into DIY? I'm gonna go and listen to some Klipsch Synergy and Infinity Primus speakers this week... too bad speakers here cost three times as much as in the US (in dollars!!).

Johnlawson, no true audiophile would use an iPod... Those are one of the worst music players you can buy.

I'm sort of a light audiophile, not spending hundreds of dollars but I like good quality. Right now I'm using a Zune HD with the NuForce NE-6 IEMs.

someone i know was looking at buying some Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7b. Does anyone have anything to say about these.

I know this is probably a stupid question but... does anyone here know what a PMP is? As in, the Cowon V5? I'm guessing portable multimedia player, but I'm not sure.

I like all kinds of audio stuff. Home Theater, car audio, pro audio...

The entertainment center is made of the front speakers :) 6ft tall DIY line arrays with 16x 4" drivers and 21x silk dome tweeters per side, biamped with a DIY Tripath amplifier at about 50W per channel (~100W per side which is PLENTY!). Then center/rears are Atlantic Technology , a 15" Definitive sub, Onkyo TXSR708 receiver, TiVo HD, Xbox360, PS3 (not shown), and a Samsung 46" LCD 650 series.

Some misc. nice speakers in the car. I particularly like my old school USAmps USA400 amp... back when they made underrated high quality stuff.

In the PA department, have some old horn loaded EV 15" mains, two 18" primary subs (misc cabs with a PAS HL2880C and a Peavy Lowrider 18) and two 15" Cerwin Vega subs for added low end. 300WPC to mains, 900WPC to primary subs, 500WPC to secondary subs. Behringer DCX2496 processor to mesh it all together (works wonders!). Simple DJ-style mixer. All usually ran off of my laptop. Needless to say, it rocks the house.
