Looks like Paypal did refund my money (to my card), but my bank hasn't updated my balance yet. Prolly weekend things. I'll order from Podo tomorrow.
Depending on your bank, I wouldn't even expect it on Monday. Longest I've had it take for my balance to update was 5 days, so give it a couple. ☺

This isnt Joker/ScIFi
This is AlienLasers who in a separate buying thread insisted to another buyer that he only sells items when customers send him money - in advance - as a "friend." That violates paypal policy which forbids merchants from abusing the person to person "gift" of funds, avoids 1099K reporting to the IRS ans removes disputes from buyer protection (because nothing was bought - and raising the dispute means the buyer admits that they lied to paypal - not he).

I called him out and determined he's either a kid or mentally ill. But either raises a red flag with regard to adults doing business with him.

As far as Sanwu - people should consider buying their equipment used from someone in their country over the reality that you are importing illegal goods. Even if they send you the item, it can be confiscated at customs and you have nothing but a potential visit from Uncle Sam.

If there was a lesson to be learned from Joker its that the risks from importing illegal lasers is pretty high. Building lasers appears to be not as complicated as it once was - and there are some good folk that will sell you used in a transparent transaction.

But dont let your impatience cloud your judgement. US laws are for US citizens and even they are imperfect. Using paypal or secure credit card transaction can provide reasonable buyer and seller protection, but you want to make sure there is no confusion what you are selling or receiving. The dispute process is outlined on paypals site- read it before you need it.
I think that everybody can buy lasers,over 5mW from China.At least I have already got one blue of 1.3W from HK.Looking at the more potent 4+W at 465nm of Eitan,I wanted one,so I am hooked.It was the sensible price,the site acceptance...The next are History.

I did it at Wednesday the 22th of April.
You'll probably need to wait until early next month to see what happens. Paypal automatically rules in favor of the buyer if the seller does nothing to contest the claim within 10 days.

Yikes! I hope there's still money left in the account to cover my claim, which comes up tomorrow. But anyway, congrats on getting yours back! I hope everyone gets their claims fulfilled. That would be a major step in SciFi getting back on track.

Well I guess I no longer have a dog in this fight. Good luck to everyone in getting your funds or lasers. GL to Eitan in dealing with this. Hopefully he can at least get lasers out to those who were too late to file a claim. Wish he hadn't wasted my time and caused me 2 months of stress, but whatever...

WTF!!!!!? Paypal intervening and forcibly refunding his customers is not Sci-fi doing the right thing and getting back on track! I can not believe how some people here STILL speak as if they would give this liar and thief another chance! This is the problem. There is no coming back from this. My god what does a person have to do to get blacklisted for good here?

Amyone that been reading these threads for the past 6 months and still ordered from this guy should not be suprised they are getting ripped off. I will forever be baffled how this guy has gotten this far with the hundred plus bad reviews.

I guess my idea was that Eitan hasn't been fighting any of the refund requests made through Paypal. He could have done that and at least delayed the process. But he's allowing it to go through so people can get their refunds. My thought is that he's allowing them all to go through because everyone here was saying that in order for him to make this right, he has to either deliver the products ordered or refund their money. Well, the money is being refunded and people are being made whole as their refunds are coming in. Once that's all done, everyone should be happy, and then if Eitan decides to start his business up again with some changes that won't allow the whole mess to happen a second time, people can decide at that time if they want to give him another chance. If they do, and he delivers, the news of that will be heard and his reputation can be restored.

Time to just see what happens. There's one guy who ordered a laser last September and cannot even file a claim anymore. It's also to be determined whether there will be money left for those who got in claims later than Elly and myself. This situation is still a LONG way from being resolved.
