Just a FYI - I ordered this 10mW 445nm pen laser: "Unique 10mW 445nm 450nm Blue Ray Portable Laser Pointer Pen Osram Diode"

It has just arrived and it actually is 10mW and 445nm! I'm so used to seeing lies that I found it unbelievable that this seller tells the truth!

Update: I compared it to my 405nm and it is clearly 445nm! One odd thing - even though it looks like all my other cheap pens it is much heavier!

Yeah I questioned them about that and I think that is just poor English. i.e. it has a blue ray/beam not that it is bluray (405).

This was the dialog:
Me said:
Your title says "blue ray" but blu-ray would be 405nm. Can you assert it really is 445-450nm ?

Jesse Ma said:
hello
please dont worry
it is 450nm, pure blue ray
405nm is violet/blue ray
thanks

405nm blu-ray diodes are nasty little burners, I was burning stuff across the room with a 700mw output one earlier today, they seem to have more punch for the power than 445nm, just that you can't see the beam very well.

Glad to know that there is a white sheep among so much black or down right dumb sheep. Good to know someone spoke the truth for once...

...or DID THEY?

Nice find. I want to get a low powered 445. I'd like something in the 50mw range though. Still tempting to snag one since that's half the price of anything I've seen on fleabay.

The diode is probably an underdriven PL 450
or PL 450B. That is a pretty good price,
too. A whole laser for almost the price of
the diode.

It's still working well and gets a lot of use.

What's interesting is it looks exactly like my other cheap eBay pens except it weights a lot more, almost like it is made of metal but the rest I have are made of plastic!

The module they're using probably has
thicker brass. Most pens have thin brass
or aluminum in the beam expander of the 532
ones. I made up a solid brass battery
spacer a while ago and it adds a surprising
amount of heft to a pen.
