So, I think it's fair to assume a good majority of you have seen my S06J 12X sales thread. It's also been brought to my attention that proper LPM results would greatly help my cause. Which brings me to the beautiful people of LPF. I'm looking for someone to LPM my laser, and post the results on my sales thread, and then (so more time and money isn't wasted sending it back to me) send it to the individual who purchases it. I think it'd a good deal, plus it gets it metered, it's my first sale with a good amount of money involved, so the buyer can feel safer, and lastly, saves the time and money to mail it BACK to me. So, anybody up for it? I'll pay to ship it there, and to the customer once he or she makes themselves known.

I can LPM it for you and provide the usual LaserBee chart or do it on video if you prefer that. But be aware I live in Canada (Toronto) and you might want to take that into consideration depending on who your buyer is.

I'd like someone close to home (for shipping times) and someone that doesn't have a high chance of it getting confiscated via customs. I'd also like some higher quality pictures done (I know, asking a lot.)

Yeah. Shipping it back and forth to Canada will be unnecessarily expensive. Not to mention THIS whole issue.

There has to be someone domestically, maybe even withing driving distance. Mr Pyle, what is the largest city nearby?

Exactly, and that's what I meant by Customs taking it :/ Nearest is Denver, and the nearest person in Colorado on the member map was Moh, the rest were people I've never heard of, and last I checked Moh didn't have an LPM. I messaged him anyway however, hoping to maybe get lucky. I just gotta get this thing sold so I'm trying everything here :/

Will the person testing your Laser also check if the build
quality is up to an acceptable level since you have not
sold another personable built Laser before as far as I
know...

Fair enough :) Although it'll be difficult to do :/ The module is attached the the heatsink via thermal adhesive for better heat transfer. So I guess good luck, and please don't destroy it in the process :/

You might also want to consider the fact that $195 is quite pricey for the first build you've put up for sale.

A lot of members with hundreds of builds under their belt might sell a laser for that same price.

I know that a lot of people see the high price tags that really experienced members like Lazeerer and DTR (etc) get offered for their beautiful creations, and then they get the mistaken impression that this is the "norm" that any build sharing similar specs should command. That's not the case. People will pay for a Lazeerer or DTR builds because of the quality that they know attaches to the builder's work.

In my opinion, I would generally recommend a $140 Lazerer.com build before I'd recommend spending $195 on a completely untested builder's creation.

Well what price would you recommend? It cost $140 in parts, and other than the minor use since it's been built (4 days ago), it's brand new. I've been told the price is fair, and someone even said they'd buy it for its original price ($230) if they weren't buying from Angelos already.

What people say and what they do is not the same. ;p

Hey,

Sorry. You know what, I completely missed the fact that it had a G1 lens. So I retract my comment. (well - my comment about people in general still stands - but I don't think it applies to your laser - I think your laser is priced just fine). $140 in parts, so $195 is probably a fair selling price, even given the lack of track record.

But what might help you out would be if you could show some shots of your craftmanship in terms of driver and diode wiring.

Cheers

I wish I thought of that before sticking it the HS with thermal adhesive :undecided: But yeah, I'd never try reselling a laser worth $100 in parts for ~$200. Like you said, you and others can pull it off because you have such stunning craftsmanship, but being a noob in the "sell" portion, I don't think I'd get a single bite. I've got beamshots, and I took a video of it igniting some flash paper from 15ft away (not uploaded to my thread yet.) Just not sure what else I can do besides LPM results.

I have a couple suggestions:

1) Move your better quality photos up into the OP. A lot of "window shoppers" may not stick around in your thread long enough to see the higher resolution photos. As a general comment - better photos are crucial.

2) LPM data is absolutely vitally important. I don't think it's really worth listing a laser for sale on LPF without LPM data. I wouldn't expect it to sell. You've offered to go with a middle man, which is good. But you have to realize that most buyers won't even want to bother with that. It's additional complexity that really kills the "excitement" of a new purchase.

You might actually be better off to ship to a middle man FIRST, and then say "ok guys, XYZ person has this in their possession, has LPM'd it, and is ready to ship to the purchaser"

3) You might also want to explain why you're selling it. I can imagine that members might be asking themselves that. It's your first 405nm build, "why is he selling it?", etc. I know that I still have my first 660nm build. It's funny looking.

1) I'll make sure to do that.

2) I plan to immediately ship it to whoever is willing to LPM it, once they make themselves know. Then just update my thread like you said.

3) This isn't my first, it is my first 12X though. I need prom money.

It looks like the canadians love this thread! HA!

So... will any domestic vet step up and volunteer to take a look? Put on the meter?

I will say that the host is one of mine... it is my heatsink in there. The AIXIZ fits snug, but is not a press fit.

LOL - Re: #3

I didn't mean that you needed to tell ME. I was just giving you some tips for your BST thread. It doesn't make any difference to me personally why you're selling it. That just struck me as something that interested parties might want to know.
