I have noticed in the last few weeks that we have had a large number of spammers and just plain old idiots on the thread! I am wondering (vets if you can answer this be great) is this normal or a higher than usual amount?

As only being hear a few months I would not know what the statistical data shows. But some of the new members just do not read the stickies and just go blasting in to every thread just to get their post count up. While i understand the need there is a standard that needs to be meet and I am just kind of thinking that this are the idiots that shine lasers at planes and helicopters.

any way this is just a thought.

They come in waves. If I had to guess I would say the reason behind it is the video Styropyro made is bringing in people wanting to make a 6W laser that can light shit on fire.

i think you right

Yeah, it goes in waves, whenever there is some big advance in the hobby a wave of noobs arrive. Like a new diode, wavelength, etc. Then things calm down for a while while nothing is really changing. I've seen this cycle many times now. :D

Just be glad you weren't here during the Arctic/445 craze in 2010. :p

It's all the kids getting out of school for summer. That's my guess anyway.

In my opinion 2007Revolution is correct. Since I have joined this forum(almost a year ago) I have seen a few crazes and they all occured after something new happened in the laser world.

Personally, if these "kids" come on LPF which is a professional, mature and very knowledgeable site full of great members who are willing to help new people to the hobby, only to spam and NOT even bother to read any of the stickies and cuss other people they don't even know out then they are sure as hell not ready to even own a Class IIIa product, much less a Class IV laser :)

I don't think it's my fault this time. :D My new video barely has any views. Like ARG said, I think it has to do with school being out.

Styropyro for president!

THis thread was just a observation its just seemed to me that we got hit last week by three or four in one week and just wanted to see if that was normal or a little out of the norm
