I think we should have a pyrotechnic section. A section that would talk about making fireworks and firecrackers ect.

What does that have to do with lasers...
Just go to the "OTHER" section...

OK all you pyros out there --- The PGI convention starts Aug 9 in Mason City, Iowa.
Don't miss it. I'll be helping setup and load shows all week :-)
The bad part is looking for duds after the shows :-(

Hope to see you !!

I had no idea what PGI meant until right now, and I absolutely must join. I would imagine a pyrotechnics convention would be about as fun as it gets..

EF --- one whole week wit two pyro shows per night. !!! I limit myself to the 4" to 6" shell area. The 16" shells are more than I want to deal with !!!
Some of the new class C works rival smaller class B stuff. I'll be having pyro fun all week !!!!!!

Mike

Some folks have worked for several days digging in the 10, 12, 16" mortars. Over 300 competition shells are loaded and covered as of today. This show will be awsom. I can't believe the number of cremora mine buckets I saw today !!

Speaking of 16" shells have you seen the 2 vids of that Japanese guy's 48" shell. The mortar tube is like 15 or 20ft high and the shell has to be lifted into it with a crane. It launches over a half of a mile high and explodes with a diameter just short of about a half of a mile! It almost weighs 1000lbs (8 lbs short). Before you start thinking about making one though each shell costs thousands of dollars. One is launched off each night at a festival in Japan, the 8th and 9th of September. I like the second shell better.

Here is one shell: YouTube - World largest fireworks! (48 inches shell !!)

Here is the second: YouTube - 48" shell ! - RARE VERSION! fireworks Japan

And here is a link to the website where I found all the info: 48inch Shell

I think that we should have a pyrotechnics section. We have a whole "off-topic" category, and so many people are interested in pyrotechnics, so why not?

The guys at APC forum don't seem too friendly to newbies, from posts I have read. I use Main Page - PyroGuide to find out my information.

I'm still a beginner, and I don't want to join a club. I just want to have fun. So far, I can make fountains, colored fire, bombs, and other simple stuff like that. But I want to learn how to do better.

APC is harsh on the noobs that don't read or just are there to talk about flash. That type of atmosphere helps keep the overall quality of the forum very high, that way you don't have to sift through pages on pages of noobs to find a useful topic like this forum.

Did you see how big the tubes were? Lot bigger than those 12" cardboard tubes for the 1" shells :) . I would like a pyrotechnic section too.
