The trippybox, as my friends call it, finally lives again. It's far from finished, but it's definitely better than the gaffer-tape-and-old-books setup I had going earlier.

"They wonder what's so magical, so enchanting about the light. Words fail to convey meaning that cannot be conveyed through words and words alone."

Slow it down a bit and run a small-frame ArIon through it at idle. :D

Motor is one of those generic crappy brushed motors that's going through a 6-step gearbox. Final RPM is between 1 and 5 depending on what I have the LM317 set to.

It's by no means quiet, though, and before I slapped Vaseline over all the gears it'd also make angry grinding noises.

I'll need a better gearbox (and a green) at some point. Hopefully one day I'll have a 4-channel DMX512-controllable Lumia projector (1 channel for speed, and one for R, G and B), but till then, this'll have to do. :)

I figured 1 rpm or faster. I read that optimum is about 1/3 rpm for a nice slow fluid motion.

Nice to have the speed adjustment too though. thanks for sharing with everyone! I love these lumia wheels, so simple yet very cool looking.

I like the effect the lumina wheel gives. This looks like a fun project too.

Little fast, but awesome effects.

Anyone know why when the colors combine on the wall they dont create other colors?

To me it looks like it blends when the colors are close together in brightness, and sense it so random that doesn't happen often and it's brighter one color or the other and so they don't blend?

Well, if you look closely, you can see patches of magenta. :p

The reason why is because it's been split up, like someone said. The overlaps aren't as noticable. If you'd dichro-combined them beforehand, and made sure they had identical divergence and beam diameters, then you could theoretically get full colour Lumia.
