Hey guys,

I  just got an email from a man named Jack. He says he sells "LPC-815, PHR-803T, SF-AD112, SF-AW210, DT-0811, GBW-H10N, GGW-H20L", and "two kinds of new Blu-Ray lens, I think it is the 8x lens". I am going to see if I can get a sample or two for testing to make sure it really is an 8x burner sled. Here are some pictures he sent me of the sled. If you recognize them, let me know:

I'm hoping that this is true, but it almost seems too good... an 8x sled available to the site... let's cross our fingers!

Re: 8x Sleds Available (probably)

I don't know.... a sled that may have been manufactured 2-3 years ago... :-? :-? :-?

If its 8X, good news. :)
Keep us updated.

That's what had me going also... the one made in 2007 probably isn't an 8x sled, but the one made in 2008 might be. I just asked Jack for a one or two samples of each sled for me to test though, so you never know, either one may still have a powerful violet diode, even if it isn't the 8x. But I really hope at least one of them is.

Yes, excellent news :). I can assure that everytime something new happens, I'll post it.

I'm wondering if it is 2008 or 2006... it's hard to see...
My reasoning is this... normally revision numbers increase... :-?

For the same model #BDP4.....

the 2007 Rev number is  2.4 - S

the 2006/8 Rev number is 2.2

Either way... once you get some samples... you'll let us know 8-)

[EDIT] IIRC... the plastic sleds are for readers not burners...
(No superior heatsinking)... :-?

I am almost 100% sure that it says 2008. But about the revision number, you are right that is very confusing. I haven’t gotten a response from Jack yet, but I’ll tell you if he says yes when he replies.

And even if they are 8x readers, they still use a pretty powerful diode right? We will see…

Anyways, he did say that he had GGW-H20L sleds... that's pretty exciting news in itself. According to him, he pretty much has all of the sleds we know of with a 405nm diode, except the BDR-203BK and KES-400A. That's a good supply of sleds.

I could... and probably am... wrong... ;D

Once you get some samples and pricing... you'll know..
BTW... I think this guy is selling to other members here as well..
so demand will control his prices... :-/
Just a thought...

Yeah, I am really looking forward to his response. And I'll keep the price and demand issue in mind.

We've seen those plastic sleds before and they are junk. Or at least we've seen A plastic sled like this (probably not the same)

The PHR-803T is less expensive than the DT-8011... :-? :-? :-? :-?
but no prices for the BDP4... guess they're waiting for the power results to price them... :P

Jerry

The PHR-803T is less expensive than the DT-8011... Huh Huh Huh Huh
but no prices for the BDP4... guess they're waiting for the power results to price them... Tongue

Jerry

Yeah, he said he sent the sleds to a guy named Amir in Sacramento California to test. He said he'll have the results in about 5 days or so.

LPC is $5.50! that's the cheapest I've seen.

Devin.

Yeah... this guy actually has some pretty good prices. Too bad he doesn't accept PayPal... just bank transfer and Western Union.

-Jakob

I have to wonder though how this guy has been able to come up with such a wide range of sleds... maybe we can figure out how he gets them so we can bypass the middle man? What if hes getting them all from the U.S.? You have to at least wonder since his prices are sooo lowww. :-?

Geeez.... It is beyond me... :o
This is the lowest we've seen these prices at.... and still it's not low enough for some guys.... :-/

Lets take out the middleman... the manufacturer.... the raw material supplier... hell... lets
get a shovel and dig the ground ourselves.... :P

I guess better than that would be if we got the Sleds and the seller pays us for taking them...

Geee that's a good idea... lets work on that.... ::)

Jerry

At those prices, who cares about the middleman.

I got the same email from JP. But I wont contact him. Demand drives up prices

BUT this may be a scam

Established in 2001, Jin Peng Electronic Trade Co.Ltd. is a diversified enterprise integrating wholesales, manufacture and import and export of household electrical appliance accessories and video and audio products. Upholding the concept of “surviving with quality”, it has been trusted and praised by clients at home and abroad since its imbark. Products it deals in include: CD, LD, VCD, DVD, Game devices, XBOX360, XBOX, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3, auto-audio laser pick-up heads as well as various laser heads and accessories

Why does a big company need to use a yahoo mail account. Could be real if he is a employee doing "side deals". Could be a scammer posing as a Jin Peng salesman or representative.
