There's this guy on ebay Rick who has a 3.5 watt 650nm he said he got it from DTR a while back. It's a c-mount but he said that people were getting up to six watts out of them. Had anyone heard this?
Also I'm a fan of the 635nm. I just grabbed a few of the 700mw oclaro's. They are definitely hitting over 1 watt.
The beam is pretty solid on these.

I mistake earlier as somehow I had my 405 lasers in my head when I mentioned I didn't have any 638nm over a 1W. Fact is I have several Oclaro and Mits over 1W and I actually have a freak Mits 500 that peaks just over 1.3W.

I would sure like to know if those c-mount single beam 3.5W still exist. Would like to see any to begin with regardless of output if they are class 4.

He's got them for sale but he wants $350.00 and I'm not $350.00 curious. But I don't doubt that they are putting out that much wattage. There's all sorts of weird diodes in c-mount. I just wouldn't even know where to begin a proper build.

As Cyp has mentioned before 650nm really isn't 650nm. He says it is more like a 655-660nm range . I find it very annoying when things are not labeled properly and I find myself hesitating everytime I say 650nm but in this case it's labeled as that. We see 635 and 638nm used interchangeably and if you buy a 462nm diode Jordan shows it testing as 464nm so what do you call them other than what manufacturers or laser sellers label them as.

I don't have a spectrometer but I have a spectroscope and I can tell most of my 650nm lasers are a higher WL than the old low power pens. I'm guessing the newer ones are 660nm and the pens actually 650nm. The reason they don't label them properly is that diodes are all over the place, WL variation is too high.

I'm not spending that kind of money.
I bought a c-mount mount from China and I have a 3W IR diode that I'm going to try and put together and see what happens. Got the diode for something like $10 bucks and the mount assembly was really cheap. I'll report when I get it done. Could have got it done today but took a day off from doing anything laser related except for coming to the forum of course;)

Hey Pete, do you remember these multiwatt red diodes from a few years ago?
There is also a link in the first post by Lazeerer to DTR's shop when he had them for sale, and in that link, there are further links to some more relevent threads.

That's fascinating. I didn't see the link to DTR though. Did it show a price?
I did notice there are a couple c-mount 650nm diodes on ebay. A 500mW for $55 and a 1W for $99 so looks like you can still get them. Didn't try putting my IR c-mount together yet. Maybe tomorrow. Haven't felt well at all today.

This is it "Here", it looks like the price was the same back then, as the new ones ABarnett is talking about now, $350.00.
Hope you're feeling better!

From what I remember those died very easily and few people managed to make them into stable builds.

Thought I would update this thread:

It does seem like 650nm/660nm diodes are becoming less common. I can't find any seller which currently sells single-mode high quality 650nm lasers! JetLasers used to sell some, but they seemed to have removed it. laserbtb has some 660nm lasers but they are TE mode.

I was lucky to get myself a corrected 637nm Spartan but 650 seems to be an even bigger pain to get! I sent Eforce lasers an email as they sell TEM00 650 PGL's. If that dosen't work I may have to get CNI to ship a PGL unit to someone in another country then ship to me.

If you take aside the supposed "high quality" you could get a single mode 100-300mW on feebay for less than $20. I still have my DX dilda that I got over 5 years ago and it's still doing great. It has one of the lowest divergences I've seen, plus it's focusable.

Yup. O-like sells a variety of moderate quality single mode reds in the 100-200mw range. I wouldn't pay big money for a 650nm in that range anyway. Poor beam visibility and low burning power.

Well I do have a lot of 400mW and under 650/660 builds with the 826 diode as Cyp says they are actually all really 655-660nm.
Did finally finish my 3W c-mount 808nm (4W running at 5A) and although it burns black stuff like mad you can't even light a match without it being colored black lol. At least it's done and I proved I could do it. Focus is basically the closer you get to the lens the more easily it burns. It's just in a red Kryton groove running off a couple of 18350 with a 5A super x-drive sxd-v3.
