I picked up five of these for use as christmas gifts. Shipping time was between 10 and 15 business days (They sat in my PO Box for an unknown period of time.) They arrived bundled together with 10 AAA batteries all in one layer of bubble wrap in an envolope. They are identicle in appearance and size to the models sold by DX, hence the only difference should be how they measure the power. I've never owned any DX pointer other than a "30mW" so I don't know how they compare. Perhaps someone else can chime in. So here are the power results:

Tests were over ~30sec at 60 degree F ambient temp and are approximate values that include any IR output.

With included alkalines:
peak      9   7   40   9   34
average 7   4   15   5   18

With e[sup]2[/sup] lithiums:
peak      11   8   40   11   26
average 9     5   25   7     14

No, that's not a typo. I double checked and one performed better with alkalines. It's output also looked like a sawtooth wave, climbing slowly and plummeting only to begin another climb :-/. Three were relatively stable and only deviated 1 or2 mW. The 40 peak one deviated up to 5mW

Bottom Line: Not at all bad for $13 shipped. Some outputs may be too high for use as pointers, but I would definately buy again.

Its amazing how there is a factor 5 difference between them... i wonder if the higher powered models have the same thing.

Thanks Cyparagon, I ordered 2X the 50 mW models, at near $25 ea. shipped, I should get them this week or next judging from your shipping time. I'll try to do a good testing as well and post it. -Glenn

Interesting results. We could probably call LEDShoppe a new and reliable source for inconsistently overpowered cheap pointers then. :p

Although, some of those deviations could be quite dangerous if not anticipated by the buyer. :-?

i've had dx 5mW greens that measure above 20mW, so the results don't seem too far fetched. Good to know there's another supplier for cheap greens

Hey guys I just got my 2- 50 mW lasers from LED Shoppe, they are both very nice indeed!  the first one tested at total 59 mW on my meter, climbs from just under 50 mW in a couple of seconds, the second is nearly the exact same too!  I'll do more testing in time, but other than cheap packaging, no box, I could hardly be happier!  These results are likely about 9% higher, (my Kenom Thermal LPM is ~9% higher readings than the units it's been compared to),  "true" total values, and IR was not filtered out, but they look like the brightness of my filtered 50-60 mW CNI's so it's likely mostly green goodness I'd guess.

They do have their own billing system, but I ordered using PayPal anyways and the order was shipped (although, from the tracking records, it might've confiscated by customs, I'll know by next week).

Also, LEDShoppe is using the American E-Commerce company CCNow to do all their transactions.

Hey Cyparagon, how was the package labled? Did it say "green laser" or "light pen"? I might buy it if it says light pen, because it will be less likely to be checked. ;D

I don't recall what the package read, but the pens themselves had the traditional warning sticker with a label of <5mW
