589nm Yellow Laser build (Beam Combining)

very nice work, with great attention to detail. i'm betting you get great yellow

Okay everyone, I received my "professional" beam combiner in the mail today and have a taken a few photos. Unfortunately, several of the photos were a bit blurry and so I think I will need to get a small tripod. Laser beams tend to turn out nicer looking when the shutter speed is a little slower, but then I can't hold my hand steady for that long. :) So, I have a few that turned out fairly decent and put them at this link.

Please let me know what you think and offer any advice that may help. As it is now, I'm still using the 120mw 532nm green. It should appear MUCH more yellow when I receive my higher powered 532nm.

EDIT: The benefit of this new beam combiner vs using a beam splitter is now the combined beam is at relatively FULL power... so now the beam is greater than 1 watt. I don't know the actual power, but it is probably about 1100mw of 650nm and 120-150mw of 532nm. I really should invest in a power meter. So, conservatively, the beam is likely greater than 1 watt.

Thanks, and take care.

Hi hyomocha,

I am new member, Your laser works great. The difference could be the frequency, the camera reproduction or the colour production by the monitor. I have noticed the color is better in Acer monitor than Dell monitor. But the new high definition viewsonic monitor is much better

Looks like you've made outstanding progress, I would love to have such a nice unit in my own possession, keep up the good work chief .

Thanks for your service man!!! I'm also in the military. US Army stationed in Korea at Yongsan.

Dear Hyomocha, Your problem could be the camera itself. My friend and I was in Paris sometime back. We were at the Eiffel Tower. We spend 2 days clicking away at the tower at different angles and different settings. I was using a Nikon Camera and She was using a cannon camera. Both are expensive camera. The color rendition was different although the setting was the same. We were not satisfied so we spent another day and night. The best color rendition was of course through our eyes. The lighting at night was simply awesome. The revolving beam at the top (blue Color) I could not capture till I changed my camera setting. I kept changing till I obtained a satisfactory shot.

Best wishes Tony1

Thanks bloompyle

I am going to purchase a tripod tomorrow and work on the adjustments on my camera to see if I can make it represent colors a little more accurately. I know the tripod will help with the stability, and therefore clarity, of the pictures. More to follow. :)
