583.8nm and 589nm, the golden brothers

It sure is an impressive mounting system. How much did it cost?

Be careful not to thermal damage the ktp if you use two. You need to reduce the power density, which will lead to a larger beam profile.

He had it listed for over 700, been offering for two years every now and then, he always thought my offer was too low, but finally gave in and sold it to me for 2/3. I don't mind a larger beam profile, I will expand it to over 75mm anyway :p

Wow, what a good price for all that.
As for the 75mm beam and the possible 2-2.5w output, are you wanting to do lunar ranging or something. :p

You may want to introduce yourself in the welcome section first, before you post a off-topic request on a random thread.

Ok I just did, it's kind of hard to navigate thru all this haha.

Would be more worried about thermal damage in the YAG/YVO4 than the KTP.

Yes you do have to be careful with the yag etc, but ktp's are known for there low optical damage threshold. Using alonger focal length lens for the 808, should help combat both problems.

I have been looking for the right YVO4 crystal for this, if I do go green, I just brought up this YVO4 off the cuff, had forgotten about it. Seller is not absolutely sure what coating, but believes from 808nm diode pumped system, maybe too long for that.

I'm guessing that it would be a standard 1064nm yvo4 as it is an Avia crystal. If so, it wouldn't be suitable for the 1342nm line.

OK, so pumped with 808 to make 1064nm? I bought it for that, not for yellow, just brought it up in case I can't use this thing for the yellow crystal.

That would be fine. If it isn't stated otherwise then it most likely wasn't worth stating. 1064 is the most common so it is unlikely that it would be something else instead. Have yourself a very nice green. :p

Gotta find the parts to drive this yellow KTP, that is what I really want.

The most important thing to look for is a nd:yvo4 crystal coated for both 1064 and 1342. Depending on what you type in on eBay you might be able to locate one. You seem to have a lot more eBay luck than me. :)

There is a reason why most of us haven't done it. :D They are not easy or cheap. The 594 is also less efficient than 589. But it will definitely be a great project.

If this crystal will work with greater efficiency at 589nm, I'd rather try to use a yellow which will produce the most power that is the most stable too (I'm assuming this might be the case for the higher efficiency). Maybe I should try to find a YVO4 with coatings for 1319 and 1064nm instead.

I paid 75 dollars, not $120. Ebay misrepresents the selling price when the seller accepts a lower buy it now price. The seller doesn't seem to know much about these crystals, maybe it really is very rare due to really being 594.3? Or maybe they got the wavelength wrong, I don't know. Also, I'm trying to find what high power means for this wavelength. Seller said they would see what additional info they might be able to get for me.
