okay so i had a thought.
532nm lasers have lenses.
has anyone ever tested them?
im am a bit afraid to pull my new 450mw green laser apart but if i replace the optics with berrter ones do you think i could increase the power? i looked and the lenses look like plastic not glass so maybe some coated glass lenses could improve the lasers power by 10% so it could be a true a 500mw and have less heat from being absorbed or reflected. if any one has any ideas or test let me know

Replacing uncoated optics with coated optics would definately give an increase, but you'd have to be sure you have uncoated optics to start with, AR coatings aren't very obvious and I wouldn't expect high power lasers to have uncoated lenses.

on the subject of green module lenses, i've found that the 5mm expanding lens fits pretty good in the diode pocket of an aixiz module. i have one of those 473 units that need beam correction. along with another collimation lens screwed into the aixiz i think the combo may do it.....more to come

yea im thinking i might take it apart and check the lenses for coatings and see if i can spot one if not i will measure power with and without the lenses if i get alot more power prior to the lens then i know the lenses are not coated if the power does not change much then i know they used good lenses.

I would first just pop the lens off altogether and see if there is any significant increase in output after filtering the IR. If it's like 5% or something, it won't be worth the time.
