1. Change the "thread title"
2. Read around the 445nm section here (will answer your question)
3. Don´t buy it.

He does incredibly high-quality work, and that's cheap for 1W 445nm. A few months ago it was $2000USD+ for a single 1W 445nm diode, it's like this: if you can afford it, get it; if not, build your own.

Are you kidding? The price is a way too high. I won´t say anything against the price if it has correction optics and is built in a nice host, but it isn´t.

Is the seller a LPF member?

I am dead serious. Basing the cost on what you can get it for here in a group buy or from individuals is closed minded. Contact Nichia and ask about a diode, you'll be speechless. The fact that these are so cheap is because Casio bought tens of thousands of them at once, possibly getting them cheaper than we do now. The point is this: 1W of 445nm direct from a source or even a reseller will still cost you over $2,000.00, because you're buying one.

A few weeks ago (Close to a month now), these diodes were selling on eBay for $500 a pop, which would explain his prices. Clearly he is still buying from this source and doesn't yet know how cheap they have become. No one would have thought they'd come down in price that fast.

Im not asking about the price of the diode, im aware of the value the used to and possibly still do have in some places. But a $200 jump for the addition of a driver? is what im debating

I think he's well aware of the recent price drop, and is charging much more than they're worth. But his logic is: as long as people are buying them, why drop the price? Some people would pay $500 just for a quality build that they don't have to do themselves, we here at LPF is pretty spoiled with laser prices. Contact CNI and ask what they charge for a 700mW 445nm module.

That is only your opinion.... and we all know what opinions
a worth....

I know that this seller does top-notch high quality work and
guarantees his products...
unlike some members that were selling Laser on the Forum in
the past at a "Bargain" price only to find they had no clue on
assembly and soldering...

His prices are in a class of their own... either you can afford it
or you can't.

He is a member here... but is not offering those prices to the
members here...
These are offered to the General public that does not have an
inside track to 445nm GB LDs sold here.

If you don't like his Prices... shop at another store... but
don't whine about it.. No-one is holding a gun to your head
to buy his products...

What would be the world without personal opinions? Right - a boring place to live

But it is my fault, I missunderstood HazzWold1993´s question that he was only asking if the driver is worth $200.

Anyway, the "1993" in his name told me that he is 16-17 years old and maybe doesn´t have the deep pockets. I wanted to let him know that there are much cheaper 445nm builts with also good quality around.

So where is my point? Yeah no point because I read the OP not carefully enough

^^^^N/P....

Quality=$$$ is always a personal equation to make...

LOL, this made me wondering if i have to start to build some labby-style units and sell them on ebay, with the remaining diodes ..... if i only had the time, and some machines .....
