I dunno how I got this much awesome laser for $22, but I won this thing on ebay (the $400 freight charge probably scared off anyone interested) and drove up to NY for local pickup, costing about $50 in fuel. Thankfully they had a forklift at the warehouse so getting it into my Jeep wasn't too big of a deal. After taking about 15 minutes to unload it with the help of my friend, finally managed to get it back upright.

Barely fits

I think I should start a new club, the 1/4 ton laser club

This massive thing is a Holmium : YAG laser, flashlamp pumped with an internal liquid cooling system and a Neslab refrigerated recirculator to keep the coolant cold. While pulsed it averages 6-8 watts at about 5 pulses per second and 250 microsecond pulses. Wavelength: 2100nm (infrared) if someone wants to do the math, you could figure out what kind of peak power output this thing has

Did someone order a laser?

Wow. That's amazing.

What is this laser machine used for?

72$ + a long drive, sooo worth it hahaha

Just be careful with it. I wouldn't use it without IR glasses for sure.

MarioMaster wins yet another awesome laser. This thing is amazing. Great video log, too!

After the amount of high powered lasers he's mucked around with, I would say he's fairly safe operating such a laser. :p

IR glasses aren't the only option. Since this laser operates at around 2.1um, or 2100nm, it's not easy getting goggles, the best way is to just avoid exposure completely. Looking away from it would be enough.

That's a monster , very nice deal. Wish we could get stuff like that in the UK so easy, could pick anything up in less than 14-16 hours of driving.

Liked the video!

Try getting stuff like that in Aus, you'd have a hard time finding ANY kind of gas laser here :(

I have a hard time finding any here too, lucky to get the odd HeNe or Argon with 10,000 hours on the tube! :( Though I did get that HeCd by sheer luck ;)

It's because we dispose of used equipment differently than they do in the US I think.
