500mw green laser for $45

Good catch there... I see this happening all the time, yet the company can claim they aren't at fault because the laser was technically "<" whatever.

It would even make sense - a company would only need to use one label for all its products. The label is required to state the maximum, and could be completely valid if you used the exact same label for a 6 mW and a 499 mW model: class 3B, <500mW.

Obviously selling such a unit as '500 mW' is wrong, as the label guarantees it to be under the rated specification.

hoping some of you guys/gals with testing gear will post results on this thing ASAP
high powered green lasers are way too expensive at moment !
it's just light !

Hey Mike,
We all wait for the test that John said he will do when he gets the LPM - hopefully soon :).
He needs to add a test with an IR filter too so we will have info how much green and how much IR

bad news, I have no IR filter now. I have tested the real output of 10 more 500mw lasers, and the results will be given to you in one or two days.

Hey John,
Any information you can supply us about the items you already checked?

Hey Guys ---

John is facing a big problem. When he gets his LPM and IR filter, the filter needs to be calibrated as posted on another thread. I'm sure he is trying to find help on this because an IR filter adds complications which many here have never encountered.

I congratulate John in his attempts to verify his product as almost none do.
Simple tests with no correction factors can show 30 to 40% IR and low green which is not usually correct. Carry On........
