Please post a pic of the Septarian under normal light. That's the wierdest response i've ever seen (under short wave, right?).

As you can read from subsequent posts, the photo is not mine. I have a nice collection of fluorescent minerals, but I don't take vary good pictures

also i have some rocks that glow red and green Under UV but not with 445nm

Minerals glowing under 445nm light are fewer than those glowing under UV light
Also, some will only react under short wave or long wave UV
Some will react differently under either
**In general** the reactions under short wave UV light are stronger than under long wave UV light

I got some calcite to test with both my 445nm and my 405nm. Should be here later this week. You were right, by the way, it is quite cheap. I only ended up paying $5 including shipping for a brick of it.

NICE. Now most calcite does not fluoresce I have 11 peaces of calcite and this is the only this one peace I showed works.

what would happen if you polished two paralleled ends or for to make a perfect box then shine your laser through? Im sure you need a pure crystal

As long as we're discussing things that glow when illuminated with a laser, try this:
In a very dark area, allow your eyes to get properly dark adapted and use a 405 to draw a line on a jar of peanut butter (close your eyes and just illuminate the PB for a moment) and you'll see that it phosphoresceses briefly--3-4-seconds. I discovered this at a party when, late at night, I was dotting things with my 405 to see what would flouresce and a jar of PB I lit up continued to glow after the beam hit it. I've since tried this on several brands of PB and they all glow. Weird huh?
