ooh man.... kk so heres what i plan, if my 15266 batteries still don't work

then it may be something wrong with my driver

i should try my driver with a test load since i haven't yet

cause i assumed 1 ohm is gonna give me 1.25A

It's always best to use a test load when you can. You could have a bad IC or resistor which you can find out using a load.

oh alright i will definitely try a test load if my new batteries still dont work cause i dont wanna take apart everything right now cause i compacted it all in there =]

but anyways, i've been looking around

most people for their lm317 drivers

was it necessary for me to connect my negative and case pin to my driver?

cause i see most people just solder their negative and case together and just connect the positive to their driver

i've gotten my glass lens and everything... but still not battery

i went ahead and popped my 10440s back in and still no luck

i took a pic of what the laser is outputting, i realise the laser starts to become a bit warm after a 10 seconds or so

so now i am gonna disassemble the laser and see whats going on ...

* EDIT
i tried a test load on my laser, but i dunno how to measure the current
do i set my DMM to Amps settings or ...
i set my DMM to 10A but i can't seem to read anything

Typical symptom of a discharged battery, wouldn't you think?
I don't think the diode is dead.
How much voltage on the input? You need AT LEAST around 7.0V input to run a 445nm
with a LM317.

sounds like your batteries are dead. try using a different type do you have 2 18650's around? if so they should do the trick.

late to this thread but you made sure what ever magnets and bits of wire used to fit your batteries are not shorting to the case causing your batteries to lose some of the power to to increased load and draining it super fast?

kinda sounds like a short to ground to me, weak light, batteries die quickly.

^^^^^ sounds about righ. i had a similar problem. it doesnt mean your diode is dead.
