could it be the diode or the driver?
the diode is in a large heatsink, i have never ran it more than 5-8 seconds.
if its the diode could i possibly repair it, (impossible for me)

Classic sign of an overdriven 445nm diode aging out. Lowering drive current may give him some more run time from it before it dies. Most of these were designed to be run at 1.2A and they tend to get pushed well past that.I've had 445nm diodes die like this. When you turn it on, it starts off bright, then rapidly dims down again.
